I totally agree. A business school professor of mine, Stuart Diamond, wrote a book called Getting More about using these ideas in negotiation. His theory is that you should always be leaving money on the table. If you're not, you'

I don't have an informed opinion on Lambda School, but it seems as though most of the concerns raised in this article are true of universities as well, and in some cases, worse in universities: Lambda makes money through some financial

Serious question: how much does this differ from what would be expected in a Poisson distribution? Does this line up with the Pareto Rule?

I'm confused by this article's complaint that the instruction was so poor that it requires students to "self-teach", and use materials outside of the coursework to learn. In my experience, and sufficiently technical topi

This extends to individual meals too. Lots of meat eaters feel some desire to be vegetarian, but have a particular dish or two they “can’t live without.” The environmental and health impacts of even avoiding meat in 50% of meals would be en

This sounds like an awful place to work. Are you a software developer? There have to be a thousand better companies that would love to have you working with them.

I'm so glad to see you bring this up. In my graduate physics training, I was taught to be extremely cautious about statistical significance, error propagation, and error bars. I remain skeptical of our conclusions about AGW, not becaus

As a Tesla optimist, it seems like their biggest constraints are cash and the distraction of quarterly earnings calls with analysts. Apple could use that huge stockpile of cash to allow Tesla to continue playing the long game, without havin

I am so happy to see this. I have supported Patagonia as a consumer due to their commitment to corporate responsibility, specifically their (more) ethical clothing manufacturing practices. When I’m in the Bay Area and see every private equi

So then I guess my feedback is that exits between $10M and $100M (which are the bulk of >$0 exits for venture backed software companies) should assume the company has only raised ~30% of the exit amount. e.g. A $50M exit for a company th

It feels unfair to be forced to pay the federal government taxes on money you’ve never seen. If the state takes $10k away from your paycheck before you ever see it, should this really be treated as income for federal taxation purposes?
