It seems bizarre that they would allow an organ transplant but not a blood transfusion.

I worked for a company that's 100% remote workers. It didn't work for me, because I had too many distractions at home & my friends thought I wasn't working and always asked me to do errands during the day. On the other hand, it obviousl

Best comment: "Yahoo continues its impressive drive down the fast lane of the information superhighway. In your father's Oldsmobile. With the left blinker on. At 45kph."

I moved here because I'm in love with San Francisco (and really hated Florida, where I lived before), plus I work in the tech industry. I'd still want to live here even if I wasn't involved in tech.

Excel is not a database. The problem is people trying to use it as a database.

I hope they learn that Al Qaeda's next plot involves explosives stuffed up his tukhis. I'm sure people will finally revolt when they insist on anal probes.

The TSA needs to go. The security theater we have to go through every time we fly does NOTHING to make us safer. It's all just a big show.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when the OUYA becomes available. A lot of major developers have already committed to support it. I can't wait to get my Kickstarter unit in a few months. I met with them last year when they were talk

That's it exactly. You don't want to piss off the oil companies, so you always make electric or hybrid vehicles look as bad as possible.

Carmen Ortiz needs to go. She's a publicity hound just trying to make a name for herself rather than someone who actually respects the law.

Drop shadows serve as a cue that something is clickable. With a flat UI you need to look for what to click on because it doesn't stand out instantly.

How about San Leandro? I see some condos there for under $200k and it seems to be convenient for BART.

I'm fast approaching 50 and I moved here last year. I wouldn't consider living anywhere else. Even though I owned a condo in Florida and was paying about 1/4 as much on my mortgage as I now do for rent, it was completely dead there. I'd rat

Rent control only applies to buildings that were built before a certain year (is it 1989, I think?). For newer buildings, they can raise your rent as much as they want.

When I moved here I took a 6 month lease, since that was the cheapest option - my apartment building has a weird rent pricing structure. When it was up to renewal, they raised my rent $500 from $2400 to $2900 (for an 11 month lease, which w

I find that nibs are more difficult to maintain than creating views in code. You'll spend a lot of time trying to figure out where something is set since you can't do a global search & replace on nibs. If you avoid magic numbers, it's e

As annoying as Xcode can be sometimes, I can't stand AppCode. It doesn't feel like a native app, and it seems very fiddly and even less user friendly than Xcode.

I took the plunge and tried inverted scroll. At first it seemed weird, but after a day or so it felt like the most natural thing ever (and I've been using Macs since 1984). Now I find it difficult to go back to 'wrong way' scrolling.
