It’s the same reason companies outsource things which aren’t their “core competency”. It’s the same reason that people outsource their infrastructure to Amazon.

And how many failures in the most recent 100 Soyuz flights? Crew dragon hasn’t had anywhere near enough launches to compare. F9 itself though has and its a great system. Going to be a long time before it’s a trusty as a 737 max though.

Absolute numbers don’t really mean much. More than 14 people have died since this test flight on American roads. Shuttle death rate was about 1 in 75, which is insanely high.

Yea, same as clocks in orbiting satellites, or even difference in rates between different locations on earth. The difference is negligible compared to leap seconds.

Normally in the U.K. they are fixed for a period of time - 5 years is quite common, but you can get 10 and even full term ones. You can also get ones which track the base rate. Typically people refix after the term. My 5 year recently ende

Those big multinationals are abusing their position I agree. I’d like to see those practices banned, HN wouldn’t because half of HN relies of predatory activities to pay their rent

And of course anyone can use your voice ti voice any opinion. Want Ghandi saying his words are backed with nuclear weapons? Want to portray Hitler as a nice loving chap? And that’s before you get onto current politicians - https:/

All planets (in the same plane of relativity) agree on the length of a second. The length of a day varies - both on earth and on mars, and is meaningless for people in orbit, but a second is a second.

Nothing in the solar system has a relative speed different enough to earth to make common timestamps different - the difference is well below leap second impacts. As for simultaneity we already have to deal with that at the millisecond leve

OP said “ It feels like there's very little social mobility in Europe compared to the US.” But didn’t define it. GP pointed to a definition which shows that OP was wrong.

Pretty easy really. But what does being a millionaire actually mean in terms of what you can do with your life? Is your goal really “become a millionaire”? Not “have the ability to see the world” or “live in a nice house with kids an a dog”
