Pardon, I should have been clearer - ban the subreddit.

Yeah, he is a child. I can't imagine a CEO of any company I have ever worked at acting as such. I wonder how employees of reddit feel at the moment?

If that is true, then they should present evidence of such action and ban it! Applying rules with extremely heavy discrimination is never the way to manage a community.

I would hardly call this an apology. Also kind-of bold of him to use this as a platform to implement new abusive rules. I don't like the subreddit, but selective enforcement and targeting a single community is very toxic to what little

I still do not understand why twitter needs one. Fire everyone, bring on a skeleton crew of engineers to fix bugs, and maybe 4 product engineers, a couple managers and a couple designers. Boom, instantly ultra profitable.

All this story did to me was remind why I don't read twitter. Short messages, interspersed with some random people's comments... I'm sure whatever did happen was downright magical, but the medium destroyed it for me. Can some

I share a similar opinion. Twitter is not special to me, nor do I believe it holds a special place for anyone outside of those select few who. The purpose of the media is to filter nonsense about politics (and celebrities if that's you

I call bullshit. Give me some numbers to back that up. I do 2-3 interviews a week and race is never a consideration. When an engineer is reviewing another engineer's code, I have never ever seen this be an issue.

Sure! I merely presented a few of the more common case paths! For instance, a good friend of mine (who shall remain nameless for anonymities sake) is currently exploring the world, working as a cook in cafes, restaurants, etc, never staying

Xcode is an absolutely amazing C++ IDE! I wonder why the article did not mention it?

I admitted to it being anecdotal and coming purely from limited interaction, and not seeing their work. I think that is enough preface to be the salt with which my opinion should be taken.

It absolutely is. We were talking about C++ pointers. 15 minutes of casual discussion at a hot tub a few months back comes to mind - and I could tell they had no idea of: What a factory was. What a unique_ptr did. The dangers of unclear obj

I live down the street from Cisco HQ. I share an apartment building with many of their engineers. Perhaps it is anecdotal, and my evidence comes purely from speaking with them (I have never seen their work), but they come across as absolute

What a lame corporate, promotional, piece. Seems like an excuse to: 1) Get their name on here despite them no doing anything interesting / News worthy. 2) Attract hires / advertise for free

The purpose of a company is to make money. There is no disagreement there. But the fact that economic climate in the US is deteriorating is bunk, and double bunk that even if it were, it would be related to misunderstandings of the purposes

This is still anecdotal. You would need hundreds of people, also, the very fact that you are expecting calls pollutes that experiment already...

I think you are giving people far too much credit, and wrapping it in too much nonsense. The amount of absolute intelligence failure (intentional or otherwise) in the last 15 or so years has been astounding.

He is also a bit of a windbag. He likes to change words because the semantics don't suit his world view. Additionally, his rants are very alienating. The man is a genius in a lot of ways, but he really misses the mark on a lot of thing

There is still a massive, massive amount of enterprise software (see: everything at Apple) that has millions of lines of code in Objective-C. That code will never be rewritten. If you have millions of dollars riding on a framework/app
