I agree it's not a good idea to have that power. I wanted to highlight that the user experience is better than SMS. For example when I add a phone number I have a higher level of trust that it's a verified business. Having read st

Why don't we use another protocol that isn't so unsafe? Why are we still on SMS. Actually once you start travelling outside the USA you realize that everyone uses whatsapp for texting friends and businesses. No one uses SMS. At le

NotJustBikes has amazing videos on these habits. They also take garbage out daily to the underground bins while going to the grocery store.

Yea I don’t think this is a technical challenge but a way of convincing people that the all knowing robots aren’t also spying on you for other purposes.

I always always never blame the people getting scammed and instead focus on system failures. The fact that phone calls cannot be verified. Why can’t we design a system that can eye ball scan you before you call and verify that you really wo

There should be a software product that protects our elderly by watching their bank accounts and listens to their phone calls. It’s so clearly a scam.

Or, they could have implemented surge pricing and charged 10x, 100x for electricity during high demand for non-essential businesses and let market forces decide who wants to still use electricity. Some lobbyists must have lined some pockets

I watch and listen to a lot of Strong Towns and NotJustBikes - a lot of the infrastructure change solutions already exist in European cities. I view the overwhelming majority of driver errors as faulty system design. Instead of red lights u

Yeah sometimes it’s easy to critique the air industry. But imagine if these same safety reviews were applied to the car industry. So many lives could be saved but we have become numb to car accidents.

You could use simple pricing to influence behavior. 1100 litres a day for each American is so damn much. When you hike and stay in the mountain huts you are charged 3$ for a 4 minute shower. You could probably fix the drought situations by

Interesting solution that I'm not sure is available/affordable to the general public. An airtag is 25$.

I've hot glued AirTag to their shoe. Dementia is not a simple problem. This solution works in some of the stages of dementia. At stage 5 they don't even wear shoes when they wander off.

It's not just your own health though. Kids can develop asthma partially due to gas stoves and the toxic fumes that stay in the apartment for hours/days after. Some studies estimate 1/8 of all asthma cases for kids is due to g

I meant rollback of a policy that performed poorly. It is an interesting point you bring up about rolling back a child that I haven't considered. That might be a good policy to have. A question to ask is it better for a kid to score 90

Why don't policies go through double blind trials or more A/B tests? And attach automatic rollbacks to policies based on metrics. I'm all for trying new solutions but they should be iterated on quickly.

IMO a key safety measure would be "if you are in an accident while on your phone, you lose your license for 12 months times the percent at fault. Will this stop drivers from using cell phones? This is a post event solution. This solu

Principle: there should never be a single point of failure in a well designed system. This is really just a lesson that we will keep re-learning and exposing as ecosystems get massive and companies make decisions at scale.
