I don't see how a Pi can take advantage of NVMe. From my tests using a 10Gbit USB3 adapter with a capable NVMe drive (3GB/s), its impressive IOPs are reduced so much that they are almost comparable to a 'normal' SATA. I

I think the tower is still needed because when the filament changes you will have a blend, as old melted filament inside the head will combine with the new filament, it takes a bit of time/material to clear.

It seems to be the real thing, not a knockoff. It has the L.M. Ericsson logo on the dial, like this one[1]. [1] https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c9/Ericsson...

It seems to be here[1], just to the left of the pin. Bing seems to have the only aerial images that have a good resolution of that area. You can faintly see on that side of the hill (the eastern face) some lines that look like the cat. [1]

These are around 15 years old (example: they say that CMOS sensors are mostly used in toy cameras - how the world has changed in the meantime...). On the other hand, optics did not change so much (they actually skip the whole DSLR years, as

The question here is how hard do you ride (given by the heart rate). Do you ride at 120bpm or 160bpm? If it's 120bpm, you can probably increase the output with little training or just by accepting a higher heart rate. If it's 160b

80W seems low for somebody who bikes every day, I guess it's not actually FTP (what you describe by maintainable for an hour) but aerobic.

I don't think you can have a 400W bike FTP without already being a pro.

A small fix to the HN title: it's about NAND (flash) memory, so basically "storage/SSD", not RAM "memory".

The 2.4GHz band is saturated (in an apartment building you'll see tens of networks, there's no free channel even if you want to optimize. And there are not many 5GHz-capable devices or they have the 5GHz band disabled (not sure wh

What the article does not mention is that most of those networks are now gone. They started around 2000 as ad-hoc networks (a few friends that shared files through SMB and maybe an Internet connection) but around 2002 they evolved to be rea

About pricing in .ro: I have a business link with 1000 down / 200 up and static public IP for $25. A similar speed home link is $9. Adjusted for big mac index (2.5x) they would be around $60 / $22.

I would not consider an engraver for which you have to call to ask the price as "routine". From what I could find, the cheapest trotec is $16k second hand on ebay (and there is another from their cheap line for $56k second hand).

It's browsable, but there is no search and the in-browser search does not work because the pages are only rendered when scrolling. So, like many current web pages, pretty and useless.

The insulation for CAT5 and RJ45 is rated for 125V. You don't want to be that close to the rating for a cable that can be moved/bent/stretched (for comparison, an AC cable is rated at least 300V). And the RJ45 connectors are

CAT5e and especially cat6/cat7 is not usually hair thick, it's usually 24 AWG (and in better cables 23 or even 22). The ampacity of 24AWG is around 3A (more if you accept a bit of heat). PoE is limited to less than 1A per pair, bu

This is the reason I now use a 3rd party RAID controller on my HP Microserver Gen 8 - I have 3 RAID cards with the same hardware and firmware, and tested that the RAID config can be imported from one to the other.

I know people who worked (full time) for Oracle who didn't even need to go to the office, they just did stuff remotely from time to time (never more than one hour/day). They actually had a second full time job that they went to.

Did you use a vacuum pump for the refrigerant lines? If air is still inside the lines, the unit will not last as long - the problem is the trapped moisture that can damage the pump in the long run.

This happened to me in the car when adding a new kind of windshield wiper fluid over the old one. It did not clog the pipes, but made the resulting fluid very slimy, and it could not be wiped out by the wiper blades. The result was that the

There is also the expectation of quality, given the branding, price and the presentation. If a $50 pair of headphones break, it's not a big deal. If a $300 pair of headphones break (repeatedly, it seems), you start to talk about it.
