Interesting article, but I wish they would give some numbers. I couldn't find good sources, but it sounds like the total volume of Liberian imports peaked at less than 0.1% of total coffee imports. So the Liberian coffee was an interes

No, but the phrase "gangstalk" refers to a specific kind of persecutory delusion. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gang_stalking

Interesting, I guess most people are unaware that running these scripts does not stop the data from being collected, because Facebook is not the one collecting most of it.

These are self reported numbers, and contradict the numbers from the federal reserve, individual banks, and credit card companies. My main problem with the claim is this. If credit were required by the majority of people, how can it be the

The definitions of "paycheck-to-paycheck" are different in different surveys. For example, in the second one you linked the question asked was something like "How difficult would it be for you if your paycheck was delayed by

Most of your specific points are false. In fact, the majority of Americans self-report that they have at least 3 months of emergency savings, and this is backed by savings account data. Credit is necessary for some people, but the actual nu

It's not an assumption, it's an expected value computation. You have to choose a distribution of expected outcomes in terms of future capabilities. Nearly all outcomes that are plausible to me come out with Nvidia worth at least 5

One huge oversight in this analysis is the assumption that LLMs will not get better. Imagine there is a 10% chance that LLM capabilities increase so significantly in the next 5 years that a significant portion (say 1%) of the economy will b

The DAN thing is a completely fake cargo cult. You can just ask chatgpt to behave this way and it will. The complexity and specifics of the DAN prompt and mechanism do not do anything.

You can do what Google and everyone else does, which is store the revoked tokens. At scale this is easy to do efficiently and rarely requires a network request since the number of revoked unexpired tokens is small.

I would rather have a phone that lasts 1 year though, I don't want to pay extra for one that lasts 5 years. Why should it be illegal to build phones for people like me who upgrade more frequently than every 5 years (and most Americans,

That depends on your definition of decentralization. Because of the way most people set up their apps, almost all Matrix users and ~all Signal users are using a centralized app under this definition.

Facebook cannot read your messages, so it is more decentralized than a system that stores messages in plaintext (or stores the decryption keys).

It's an example of somebody replacing a centralized protocol with a more decentralized one. It's also one of the biggest direct messaging platforms in the world with E2E encryption.

Facebook messenger is not completely decentralized, but it is E2E encrypted now after years of struggle with governments and UX. It's definitely possible to move centralized systems to be more decentralized.

Looks like the output is significantly darker than the input. This can happen if you don't unbias the noise near the black level. You may want to experiment with adjusting the noise estimate taking into account the black level

The main case where I use final and where I would expect benefits (not covered well by the article) is when you are using an external library with pure virtual interfaces that you implement. For example, the AWS C++ SDK uses virtual functio

The cities near me that have planned municipal broadband are spending more than $5000 per resident. I pay more taxes than the average person, so I end up spending more than I would spend on private service.

What if the broadband companies are right though? I would prefer having a voice in government that isn't just a politician. Obviously an unpopular opinion but municipal broadband would likely not be good for me personally.
