I ran the "Man in Blue" tests: http://www.themaninblue.com/writing/perspective/2010/03/22/ on my N1 running Flash 10.1 in the default (webkit-based, I assume) browser and was surprised at how much faster Flash was than the HTML or canvas

Unfortunately, IE 8 won't render SVG at all. I suppose graphics could be designed in a vector-based tool like Illustrator that can export SVG for compatible browsers as well as raster for lte IE8.

Agreed, for the most part. I've got an N1 and a serious case of iPhone game envy. But Angry Birds is coming to Android, PopCap is committed to Android, and Unity 3.0 will support Android.

I always use swfobject.js and include alternate html content for flash-only sites. Google will pick up the alternate content rather than crawl the flash, from what I gather. A few years ago, before I included alt content, Google was indexin

FF 3.6.3 under OS 10.6.3 is as smooth for me as Safari or Chrome. Are you using 10.6? Which incremental version of FF 3.6? Just curious.

I've got <8000 emails at around 2GB. Gmail seems to have been slow for the past couple of weeks, but it does vary. Usually 20-30 seconds to load Gmail; 15-20 seconds to open an email. 30 seconds or more to send. I just hid chat, buzz an

My daughter (11) may be into this, but my son (8) probably wouldn't. He likes games too much. He still plays Club Penguin some, but Garry's mod is where he spends his screen time now.

More than that - most are too stylized to be used for body copy. You'd be amazed at how many times art directors or clients have forced me to use images for large chunks of copy. For the most part I agree with you and feel that font-size, l

The descenders in the Droid sans headlines on Smashing are cropping for me in vista. The fonts are also aliased, but if I remember correctly, typekit also only produced aliased fonts in windows.

Nice demo, but I feel that the title is a little misleading as the CSS is more so webkit-specific CSS than it is CSS3.

are you viewing in FF? I am and noticed some of the logos aren't displaying - but they do in Chrome. Nice presentation, but "HTML5" shouldn't mean "webkit only".

FF is hardly obsolete. The presentation used vendor-specific extensions (-webkit-) that are not part of the CSS3 spec, much less HTML5. Many of the features could have been implemented in FF had the author used -moz- alongside -webkit-.

After working in Mac-centric development environments for the past 12 years, I can't say I'm enamored with Apple's hardware track record. The desktops have been for the most part reliable, but the laptops and iMacs have not fared so well. A

It is indeed a confusing 'infographic'. Intel's rect (332,352px) is 100x the size of iWeb's rect (3,192px), but Intel's server count is only listed as 10x that of iWeb. I'd rather see a graphic with a 1:1 ratio of servers to pixels.

Flash is indeed slower on Mac - both plugin and authoring - but the 10.1 plugin seems to have closed the gap. Photoshop Mac definitely seems to perform better than it does in Windows.

Agreed, but a small form factor netbook shares many more similarities with the iPad than a full-fledged laptop. My 9" EeePC is light and comfortable to use on the couch, in bed or even standing in line at the DMV. The keyboard is too small

Based on the screen size, the onscreen keyboard should have dimensions similar to a 9-10" netbook. But a netbook keyboard has a lot more keys crammed into that space. Look what's missing on the iPad keyboard: http://images.apple.com/ipad/f
