I like the intro, very clear! I also like the narrative cross-referencing the docs, which people will sooner or later need to do as well. I have to admit that I only glanced over the code. This caught my attention: "In the EndPoint spe

Overweight freight, sure. Collective transportation.. certainly not per-capita (assuming you're talking about buses, not subway/rail). Any references? Where I live, the main causes usually quoted are: overweight freight, roads ove

For Quebec, according to some numbers I found, in 2013-2014 (when gaz prices were high), the provincial government made 2.2 B$ from gaz taxes that year. If that's the case, it's not that much compared to all the infra that needs o

Private car transportation is also massively subsidized. Near my neighbourhood, they are rebuilding a highway exchange for more than 3.6 B$CAD (2.7 USD). A few blocks from there, they have to rebuild a bridge, another 4.2 B$CAD. It's n

I'm on Fido/Rogers in Quebec/Ontario, and they have had IPv6 enabled for 1-2 years. Make sure that your APN settings enable IPv6 (in Android, there's an option for that). Mobile is the main reason why Canada is >15% a

When my residential ISP started allocating IPv6 blocks, they published our postal codes in the whois database. In Canada, in a city, that postcode is basically a dozen buildings (one side of a street block), at least where I live. For a sta

I did! You can do that with most providers. If they don't explicitly offer it, just tell them you want to switch to an tablet/iPad plan. I pay $15/month for a 3 GB data-only plan and $1/month for a VoIP number that rout

Heh, I agree in theory. In practice, people speak very broken English, and it helps to understand where they come from. Of course, that goes both ways. As someone from Montreal/Quebec, I rarely meet someone from France who spoke good E

I think you're confusing with having a united Canadian identity/culture/nation (à-la-PE Trudeau). Also, nowadays, you probably want to speak more than two languages, or at least have some understanding of more than two langua

One of the things I like most about Gitlab, is the steady releases and improvements by small doses, making it easy to auto-upgrade and adapt as we go (with the occasional internal announcement: "hey, you can now do X in Gitlab, have fu

In most western countries, you don't negotiate a hospital bill. Usually you don't get a bill at all. In most Canadian provinces, governments set prices and their only "client" is the provincial government. I think you me

Most other countries do a pretty good job controlling health care prices. The situation in the United-States is appalling. Deregulation sometimes works, but here it clearly fails.

I'm a bit confused by the context. There's nothing wrong with the mindset of expecting free healthcare, but I think it's how you get there that is problematic. In western countries, those things are "free" because w
