(I seem to be cast in the role of FreeCAD advocate on HN these days, but here goes!) For years I agreed with you - I tried FreeCAD multiple times, different versions, always sucked. Then I watched this video [0] and discovered that v1.1 is

It tried to solve cross-platform development. That’s a legitimate issue. In retrospect, calling it React probably caused more problems than it brought benefits, and makes little sense - like Java vs JavaScript.

Fundamentally, I'd argue that very little should ever be unreasonable or out of bounds to make jokes about; what is important is that it's good humour. Case in point: https://theonion.com/hijackers-surprised-to-f

It's probably pertinent to mention that the Python installation ecosystem is a hot mess, with multiple ways of installing Python (e.g. standard Python installer, multiple different packages managers on different OSes, Conda, and myriad

Big karaoke fan, so thanks for doing this. I'm processing a first test song as I write. The pitch scoring sounds really interesting as both a competitive and maybe also a training tool. A couple of immediate small pieces of feedback:

Many non-vegetarian restaurants don't seem to care about the vegetarian options, and just offer almost default options. It's probably down to the attitude of the chef - similarly to how you can sometimes tell whether the chef is

The new(ish) Sennheiser HDB 630s have been getting fairly spectacular reviews for sound quality, and cost a touch less than the Airpods Max 2s. Leaving the rest of your equipment aside, those would be the first options I'd consider in

I disagree. I’m ~97% vegetarian but there are a few foods for which traditional vegetarian alternatives are rubbish. One of these is the burger: you either get some odd veg/potato base pattie, a large grilled mushroom, or halloumi. The

Sure, the AI contributed, but it was far less responsible overall than the humans in this case. Don't let the AI system off the hook by all means, but by focusing on it to this extent, the narrative ignores (deliberately?) the hugely n

Quite; AI contributed to a (criminally?) inept and negligent "justice" system ruining an innocent woman's life. The AI was akin to an unreliable eye-witness in this case, although people's trust in the AI's judgemen

I dunno; IME many people who could barely be called a ‘creator’ seem to invest in a standalone microphone already, and many of these (the portable ones anyway) aren’t wired.

Conceptually, this seems a good direction. The other piece that has always struck me as a huge inefficiency with current usage of LLMs is the hoops they have to jump through to make sense of existing file formats - especially making sense o
