The problem with C++ is it keeps getting better. There was a time when Rust was interesting to me but then C++11 came out. Then they kept improving it

It just hit me. The web produces bad UI. I saw a demo of Alan Kay showing a smalltalk environment from the 70s. Wow, we haven't even caught up to that yet.

Weird, so people who give justification for neovim and use that thread are wrong. Thanks. Speaking of message-loop design. This is a typical design in the vast majority of GUI software where the center of the program is a message loop. I ne

You have it backwards. Interest rates increase the cost of doing business. They cause more inflation. Not only that, higher interest rates encourage banks to create more risky /predatory loans. They add to risk and add to cost of every

Ignore them? Far from it. Brahm provided a lot of feedback. The authors got lazy abd forked instead of dealing with criticism of their design.

Thanks for this. I had the same read when I read the original thread. The authors were lazy and kind of petty in their responses to Bram. Put me off the neovim project because it seemed the authors didn't care about design.

Exactly! We have a small amount of carbon budget left before we exceed 2C. Using it needs planning. If anything, global warming is a sign that we have basically failed at planning as a species. We glorify our past ability to build but we fa

I don't agree with this article about "micro-tasks". You don't learn accountability and how to break down problems into small tasks if someone does it for you. What junior developers need (actually all workers) is owners

> The loan was paid back early and did exactly what it was supposed to do (incentivize alternative energy company creation). I think they may have even paid an early payment penalty to be done with it? So it wasn't a bailout at all.

Isn't a group of 1 still a minority? Isn't Musk himself a loud minority of the company who wields lots of power? Isn't SpaceX in this case already a Dictatorship of the Small Minority?

Satosh was NOT an excellent C++ programmer. As someone who heavily dug into bitcoin code, the whole thing was a mess from the beginning. Poorly architected. Insane amount of global variables. It was just a huge mess and still is. IMO it wa

All the important stuff is already owned by the few. It will just get worse. Eventually will lead to a revolution. That's the end game if it keeps going. There needs to be a jubilee and a 'new new' deal to prevent it. However
