The thing that I find the most interesting is that a few people on the fanfiction groups I frequent absolutely loathe the story, and there's a sizable group that are ambivalent to it. What I haven't seen, however, is anyone here or on reddi

Possible explanation: When people try to overthink certain tasks (or feel a lack of confidence in their ability to perform), they perform worse at them. Alcohol may have the effect of inhibiting this factor, more than enough to compensate f

That's a tautology. And the set of law-breakers is neither a subset nor a superset of the set of immoral/unethical/bad/evil people.

I've never noticed any particular aftertaste from Coke or Pepsi, but I have noticed that with Pepsi I get that 'sickly-sweet' taste after about half a can, which I don't get with Coke.

My thoughts are that religion and God is about, or at least originates from a desire for, the afterlife. Hence, deathbed conversions, the focus on heaven, hell, and eternal damnation. Thus God -> Afterlife, and the converse is not reall

My preferred counterargument to this (Pascal's Wager) is that assuming there is a god, professing to believe in him just to avoid eternal damnation is more likely to damn you than being honest. Does believing for the sake of belief count as

When I originally read it, the symmetry was blatantly obvious and I kept waiting for at least one of the humans to remark on it. That they desire to impose their ethics on the Babyeaters yet reject those of the others... But SF can also be

I think the silliest part of that argument is the idea that natural selection needs a 'cause' or an explanation. It doesn't. Natural selection is a tautology. That which makes itself more likely to propagate is more likely to propagate.

As a long time game industry veteran, allow me to tell you that this is simply not true. In fact, that is actually the internet's straw man counter argument, which is fueled by a couple poor PR incidents where a few people have made it see

One obvious difference between art and games is that you can win a game. It has rules, points, objectives, and an outcome. Santiago might cite a immersive game without points or rules, but I would say then it ceases to be a game and become
