Mind that this doesn't mean that they are not commercialized - modern console emulators make a lot of money on patreon(in some cases up to $80k a month) for "private builds" that can run certain games, especially newer ones

That's amazing! This is such a smash-hit feature from Discord that no other messenger has gotten right yet. Feels like a needed step for community-building after having used Discord for so long. You are doing awesome work.

Look at Chinese Android phones: They get away with slapping an unresponsive and confusing shell onto their phones and still sell millions. I wouldn't be surprised if this will happen for Laptops soon as well, with custom in-house DEs.

Makes me wonder how no one has sued that company for false advertising yet - when the CEO says "this car you're buying is capable of doing X and will do it by the end of 2016" but it still doesn't in 2021. Tesla seemingl

Apple actually has been on a big crusade against any semblance of sexual content on the Store since early 2021, actually - Discord is now forced to hide all servers with NSFW content on iOS and a few art apps(e.g. Procreate) have removed ar

Probably soon if this comes to Android, since it basically removes all value from YouTube Premium as it is right now. Google never allowed alternative YouTube clients that had this exact feature set on the play store.

If your social network relies on having less users to be good, you might have a problem in your long-term business model(especially considering the funding they've already gotten).

Scripting in Excel is a complex mess of VBA and COM, it's probably far from trivial to provide (sane) bindings into other languages. You can do it via .NET, but a lot of people prefer VBA for its "quick and dirty"-ness.

I was mentioning this last time MuseScore appeared on HN - their CEO gave some insight in the comments on how this came to be. Seems to boil down to "music publishing mafia didn't like it", which is understandable. https:&#x
