Thanks! That was pretty good...gonna see what else he has :-D ok - I have no idea what he's talking about, but both my girlfriend and I loved the ones we listened to :-D (1)(2) Thanks again! 1) https://www.youtube.com/w

I guess we learned the f=ma format because we had it before calculus? TIL F=dp/dt form... Thanks!

Thanks - seems like it was the momentum thing I was missing. I got a far as nothing with mass can move at c and was out of my depth :-P Thanks

Oh Thanks! Should have known I was missing something basic :-) edit: btw - thats a REALLY nice explanation :-) Thanks

Sorry - again, only HS physics - does that imply they have mass when moving ? (hmm - can you even have a photon at rest?) thanks!

seems to be my day for stupid questions... Do quantum effects make solar sails work ? My High School physics said F=MA and photons have zero mass.. so where does the force come from ? Thanks!

Huh...I didn't know that...the lil S.O.B.s on my porch must be really well fed - the webs are everywhere :-D Thanks

It just seems like a lot of behaviors are closer to full blown programs rather than a single instruction :-) And the more complex the behavior the more it blows my mind :-D Thanks! Thanks for the link below - it was pretty neat :-D

I guess I just get hung up on how such 'simple' cells can encode such complex behaviors... Thanks

Thing is, it seems to me like some sort of 'master control' needs to know what signals to emit. Which sounds like it has to have a 'blueprint' of what the entire organism should 'look' like? I always think of s

I guess I just get floored that such complex behaviors can be encoded. Like how some people seem to 'just know' how to draw and I can't draw a straight line with a ruler...

Heh I didn't realize people don't have an instinct about fire. I always thought kids touching hot stoves/fire was because their hands touched it before their brains registered 'hot! ouch!'

I'm amazed by how cells know what to grow 'into' as well - especially since stem cells seem to be able to grow into just about any body part? >>and thus can learn some things("instinctual behaviour") easier th

Wow - that surprises me - I would have thought heights would be an 'instinct' thing - like water (animals know to try not to drown...)

I use the odroid H series(1) for basic 'small server' usage. Dual nics for use as a firewall, DDR5 upto 48G, multiple sata ports, m.2 port, etc. Totally silent and very low power draw. They run from like $125 to $175 new, depend

Checkout the odroid H+ series...about $125 for full x86 passively cooled system with dual nics, up to 32G of RAM, sata and m.2, etc.

Personally, I'm a fan of the odroid H+ series - full x86 SOC with dual nics, and some on-board gpu stuff for $125. I have 3 of the old H2 series and I love them.

Depends on how much you like tech? Like most industries, it has ups and downs (dot com bust, 2008 recession, etc). Its just that 2012+ has been a really successful time for tech, and younger devs have never seen a 'down' cycle b

After 30+ years in the field..it definately wasn't always the case. All the leet code and take home stuff is a pretty new thing. Can't say I've seen it result in higher quality teams. Seems mostly a way to rank recent grads

I keep mine in Obsidian - I have a 'rough' organization of notes, but search means I don't have to worry about it much.
