I think this is a smart move by MS. The name Azure didn't cause people to immediately think of cloud services, while this renaming makes it much more clear.

Ah, that makes much more sense. Having said that, where do you see fragmentation in the Java ecosystem? I don't use Java to write anything but Android apps, but I've used a few pure Java libs with Android and they all seem to work great. Th

It'd have to be OS X, since GDrive still doesn't have a Linux client. Unless you're using the GDrive FUSE fs, but I'm not sure how useable that is right now.

What if you share files? Or if you make it public? They have to "publish" it to them.

Please, use OAuth for this type of stuff from now on. I don't care how great your app is, I'm not giving you my username and password. Beyond that, you probably don't deal with 2-factor authentication either, which I have enabled.

I think your problem with this advice is that you're looking at it at the micro-scale. They don't mean the, fairly hedonistic, "only ever do the activities that you love to do", but rather in a grander scheme. Work on the problems that moti

That sounds like a pretty awesome way to handle it, so props to Fog Creek. Having said that, what happened after he stepped down? Did they hire outside of the company? Promote another senior developer?

I can't imagine the monetary investment from YC is more significant than the advice and mentoring that you get. Raising $20k isn't impossibly hard. Finding the right mentors is.

I spun the JSON decoding off into a few goroutines and managed to get it down to ~1second (but it was out of order, so didn't quite solve the same problem - though this is fixable). This is was ~10 lines of Go (and only using a single core

It's actually the JSON parsing. Python is using a highly optimized C parser, whereas Go's json package is in pure Go.

Yeah, profiling the Go quickly shows that the part that takes the most time is the JSON parsing.

Essentially all of the commands on the device are translated into native OpenGL calls, so I suspect if you don't have a GPU you just get the default OpenGL software renderer.
