So given their planned approval is still a few days away, we can expect about 10,000 deaths between now and the next step. Less than 10,000 have died from vaccines ever, globally, ever. Rolling out these vaccines to the high risk is the eas

Interesting. Thanks for sharing the anecdote. Seems odd to me you are asking people. Isn't there a line or something? My biggest concern with virus rollout is millions of doses sitting on shelves waiting for "high priority" p

E-signature law is rock solid, there had never in the US been a contract tossed out solely because the signature was electronic. This ship has sailed a long time ago. Scribbling on a dead tree is not superior.

I think in practice they are merged to avoid incentives to lie. Every org I have worked at that had separate pools there was widespread lying about being sick. Nobody really asked or cared, so in effect they are the same thing. In practice

I think you are being downvoted for the tone, but I agree the problem stripe's customers face is 99% the large fees for credit card processing. Anything they can do here would be good.

This isn't "fast" we just have low expectations of our government. The FDA in the US is taking 3 weeks to reviews, about 5-10% of the entire time to develop this is just to schedule this (3rd to last) meeting. All while over

FDA says Dec 17 meeting to discuss. This contradicts some earlier opinions that the reason the FDA was taking so long to review Pfizer (Dec 10 scheduled date) was that they were planning to review 2-3 candidates together. For context, sched

There are plausible criticisms, but the idea that it is simply not possible to power the world with solar, nuclear other renewables and battery is absurd. Most of his arguments seem to be against wind, where his arguments are strongest. Fir

Agree with parent. Financial advisors are basically never worth it, for a bunch of reasons, including: -cost is very expensive -none can beat the market, because if they could they would be hedge fund managers or something that makes 100x -

Sure. The right circumstances this can make sense. But at a high level of your SAAS starts at $500/mo, you are selling to mid market and enterprises, not startups, almost universally. I was hoping for a product that would make sense fo

I just glanced at our own airflow instance in AWS (not on this service). We run 1 t3.xlarge instances 4vCPU for the scheduler and web server and 1 t3.xlarge instance (4vCPU) for the workers. At $0.33 per hour (on demand), this seems to most

I'm reposting some of my thoughts below to try and genuinely see is someone has an answer to the question: From a utilitarian perspective, why weren't these all approved for the elderly in Q2 2020? In other words, its May 2020 and

I strongly disagree with this. I cannot think of a valid utilitarian argument allowing willing people from getting a vaccine. First, vaccines have an extremely high success rate, 33% of vaccines make it through all trials to approval. 50% a

I have running notes that said 20M doses by end of year, so 10M people. Oxford/Astrazeneca are the only ones who have alluded to 100M doses in 2020. Everyone else won't get phase III results until 2021: johnson and johnson, merck,
