I see only a link to an infographic about recalls in 2023.

That says 2023. I don’t see Toyota mentioned in there at all. Maybe I’m missing something.

Which metric are you using when you use the word disproportionately?

> What data are you using? I’m not the one claiming anything about proportions. I didn’t claim to have any data. How did you arrive at your proportions?

To me, “disproportionately bad with quality issues” would be about total units shipped.

Disproportionately? Does Tesla ship as many vehicles as Toyota? You have made me curious about the numbers you are using.

What does ER mean in this context? I read her Wikipedia page and didn’t see it. [Never mind. ChatGPT explained to me: “ER in the statement likely stands for "United Russia" (Edinaya Rossiya in Russian), which is a political party

That is certainly one case, maybe the most likely. But another case I was involved with involved sales just not understanding the innovation. They could have potentially made just as much or more money with the new thing, but were too comfo

I worked a lot with SGI hardware and IRIX in the 90s and very early 2000s. I ported a lot of code to and from Linux in that time. I remember trying to explain to SGI reps that while we loved the SGI hardware, Linux on commodity x86 was the

They also should have made deals with hotels. When I travel for business, I’m not going to allow for delays for finding and waiting for charging stations. They should have made a deal with Hampton Inn. Hertz kept trying to push EVs on me an

I would expect most systems to preserve questions and answers for quality control and testing. Even if a system claims not to keep that record, I don’t trust it not to.

It isn’t just your employers that are selling your compensation. Many give copies of W-2 and paystubs to companies that loan them money (e.g., for mortgages and auto loans). Some of these companies then sell this data to aggregators.

The private charities that fill the gaps left open by government are another form of government, just not democratically elected. (I realized I was contributing to that problem by donating to local charities.)

The lived experience in Ukraine makes clear that there is a difference between disposable drones and contemporary missiles.

I am aware that missiles and torpedoes are very expensive. Disposable drones are changing doctrine in ways that more expensive missiles and torpedoes do not.

That says unit cost is $52,914. Not cheap by most standards. Yes, cheap compared to military aircraft, but the interesting changes around doctrine are happening at cheap enough to be disposable.

I feel like a grumpy old guy every time I read about AirbedAndBreakfast, because that is how it was initially pitched on this site. If people would just keep thinking of it as a way to get an airbed and sleep on someone’s floor, they would

Who do you trust to determine the right amount of aerosol? Some areas will be harmed by temperature increases, some will benefit. Who decides who benefits? This is a classic Tragedy of the Commons. We are underequipped to cooperate.

I don’t doubt that vendors in some industries communicate with customers via Slack. I know of a few in the tech industry. The overwhelming majority of vendor and customer professional communication happens over email.

A point that I don’t think is being appreciated here is that email is still fundamental to communication between organizations, even if they are using something less formal internally. One’s nephew might not interact in a professional capac
