I often do this with my iPhone 11 Pro. It is dumb and works better than having no connection. It is a ridiculous thing to do at a time when watches have LTE modems.

The choices are Windows with a modem or macOS without.

I currently pay a lot for data services for my devices. I am willing to pay a lot more for better connectivity. I travel a lot. Just yesterday I was in a situation where tethering to my phone was a hassle.

I use this a lot. It burns two batteries instead of one, is unreliable, and adds latency. I would very much like to buy a laptop from Apple that has a modem builtin like I can get from Dell. Furthermore, I would like a modem in the laptop t

No matter how much I am willing to pay, I cannot buy what I want. That is a market failure.

I use Hotspot with the iPhone. I would rather have a modem in the laptop, like I can get from Dell.

Every time a new MacBook Pro is released, I check to see if they have figured out how to put a modem in it like they manage to with watches, phones, and tablets. This is an obvious example where the market is failing. The best explanation I

Indeed. As I pointed out, they are faster at compiling code and slower at processing keystrokes.

I am fully aware that my MacBook Pro is overall faster at compiling code than my Commodore 64 was ever capable of. I am also aware that getting a keystroke from a polled USB keyboard up through the many layers and context switches to get it

The energy difference between ambient-temp-to-frozen and ambient-temp to steam is much larger. I would think that this affects scalability. I live in a city center that uses chilled water for some use cases, but it certainly does not seem s

Do you have some idea on how to do storage cheap at scale? There is a lot of money for anyone who has an easy technical remedy.

Kotlin feels like a different language to me, but yeah, I guess it could be. I have not worked enough in Kotlin to know what warts it might have.

Wanting Java to have better syntax does not mean that it is intolerable. I use Java more than I use any other language. I have a lot that depends on it. It would be really nice to have a new version of Java that rethinks the syntax from the

Wow. Thanks for all of this. I am really interested in being able to remotely command the drone to navigate to waypoints sequentially and semi-autonomously. My understanding is that the low end of DJI drones do not support this. Do you have

I never suggested neutrality. Quite the opposite. Yes, those of us who have traveled are quite aware that it would make sense to provide an option in the UI to show something other than what the local government wants us to see. My point re

We are in agreement that Google is limited by what is legal. This is what I originally wrote. If they want profits from both jurisdictions, they will not make a principled decision.

Indeed. Corporations whose shareholders expect them to extract profits from all countries have to accept that they cannot be politically neutral. They must put profit ahead of principle.

Can you recommend a good drone with an open source stack? I would very much like to buy one but it is unclear which are comparable or better than something I would buy from DJI.
