I want the nav system to quit reminding me to turn when it notices that I have signaled. I want to pause navigation when I stop at the gas station or make some other stop (when not in gear, not gear change; the nav system should know when

How would the navigation app on CarPlay know whether or not you have turned on your turn signal ahead of a turn? Or know to pause navigation because the car is no longer in gear?

You need more than "the standard audio protocol". The infotainment system should know a lot about the car's state (e.g., RPM, turn signal activated/deactivated).

This would provide comfort to residents of a simulation who still think the self is something other than an illusion.

I did not say that the state was reversible. If you are trying to say that non-reversibility implies that state cannot be destroyed, we would need more than your TLDR.

Yes. I see a lot of speculation about the possibility that our universe is a simulation. But our experience with inadvertently building Turing-complete systems makes me wonder if our universe is running on something that is just a side-effe

FTFA: “ All the world’s knowledge is available for the taking on the Internet” No. This is not true. Quit saying this. A small fraction of the world’s knowledge is on the Internet, much less scrapable.

I would do the same thing with the information I get from top and Activity Monitor: use that to guide me to what needs investigating. I am often developing small one-off programs to process data. I then keep some of these running in various

Digging around in Instruments is the opposite of accessible. Every OS always had easy ways to tell if a process is waiting on disk or network (e.g., top, Activity Monitor). The mechanisms for measuring how often a process is waiting on memo

It is a shame that there are not better monitoring tools that surface this. When I use Activity Monitor on macOS, it would be useful to see how much of “% CPU” is just waiting on memory. I know I can drill down with various profilers, but h

We have been using scantron ballots in Florida since 2002. (Statewide, that is. I think some counties were doing it before the reforms.) I can't imagine any ballot that would be hard to encode on them.

Is there a good reason why the app would not track window visibility? I have only used the X API for this, but I would have assumed all GUIs have such an API.

I don't remember Trump pushing any kind of new manufacturing. He was pandering to existing domestic manufacturers with the dumb tariffs.
