What I find most appalling is that even though all these positions are staffed, there is no limit to what they will ask developers to do. They want the developer to come up with all the ideas, write the stories, do the work, do the coordina

Big trucks are well into 6 figures now. And with the miracle of 100 month loans they have suddenly become accessible to people with a median income and a highly impoverished financial education.

On the “who’s to blame” front you can put banks at the top of the list. They are the ones that make it easy for people to “buy” these modern monstrosities. If people did not have access to wild financing options the cars they could afford t

This is like a “sun rises again” story. Of course the mayor of London still hates brexit. Just like the rest of the ruling class and their lackeys in the media.

Man growing up in the suburbs sounds like heaven compared to this. Pouring your cereal and roaches come out? Thats a scene from a nightmare or horror film. Growing up in the midwestern suburbs in the 80s we saw them occasionally, but nothi

Should this really be called a “vaccine”? I feel like that is going to give people the wrong impression about what it does. I think labelling it gene therapy, immune therapy, or something like that would be closer to what it actually does.

The taxes seem low? If you earned that much on a w2 in the US it would be much higher by the time federal, state, and local tax came out. I have no idea what the tax implication would be if the earnings went to an llc. Might even be worse.

That was my thought. It reminds me a lot of the “think of the truck drivers!” bs from the autonomous self driving crowd years ago. No closer today than it was a decade ago.

It’s a shame that Ruby doesn’t have the cachet it once had. People are missing out. It’s still a fantastic language and Rails is still the goat web framework. Perhaps we’ll see a renaissance in the future. I still prefer to do all my tinker

Lack of diversity is stated but never mentioned again. Diversity of what is left to the readers interpretation. This reads like a hit piece rather than a genuine exploration of a real issue.

I think it’s odd that they cut people loose to freestyle their diet the last 4 weeks. As with most studies like this it’s very hard to draw any kind of conclusion. I guess the follow up would be longer term studies that constrain more varia

That is just not true. Inflation is not an immutable law of nature. In fact, we should expect to see the prices of certain commodities go down as technological advances drive efficiency and productivity. And in fact many times in the past w

How attractive someone is or becomes is not an immutable attribute. If you have a little bit of success or luck in your early life and have a decent diet, access to healthcare, decent clothes and grooming that can make an insane difference

While I agree with the sentiment it really depends on many factors, most of which are unknowable. That is, if you knew to certainty that a loved one would live 2 months in hospice or 3 months in hospital most people would pick 2 months of

A technology like htmx seems to demand a “hypermedia” API. Whereas things like angular and react can consume a data API in many cases. However once an application becomes sufficiently complex people end up building data APIs just to suit th

There is a terrific lecture by Michael Sugrue on Marcus Aurelius where he discusses some of the history of Stoicism. I think that lecture can give you a good understanding of the appeal.
