My son was just born and we are already looking at alternatives to the public education system. Guys I work with that have school age children are constantly at odds with teachers and school administrators. Of course the kids hate it as wel

I find it odd that there is so much emphasis on enforcement of speed limits. Studies have shown that speed limits above and below the prevailing speed of most drivers is a much higher risk factor that raw speed. And then there are other beh

I do sympathize, but there is a flip side to this. I have worked in large orgs with many developer and engineer titled employees that can’t code at all. Zero coding skills. And their title would be things like “Senior Enterprise Application

The argument of "you have to put a non-trivial amount of time into setting any OS up, so you might as well use X" is so disingenuous. It's easy to forget the day to day conveniences when you are using windows or osx every day

Regardless of the origin this is a terrible outcome to live with. If it is being used as an offensive weapon it is truly diabolical. In many ways it is much worse than simply killing somebody. Not only have they degraded the performance of

Some of the most intelligent and exciting people I have worked with have been homeschooled. I would counter the idea that homeschooling/unschooling is like a religion by turning it around. The orthodoxy of public education in the US is

Legacy media is in the same boat, and has been for a long time, as you pointed out. When it comes to social media I think it is sprawling. Even a topic as pedestrian as lawn care is completely overrun by inorganic material.

I would love to know the true scope of “inorganic” content on these platforms. It is surely appalling. At some point users will realize that they are wasting their life staring into a screen that presents them with mostly engineered informa

I think this is very cool, but their song and dance about making nothing seem foreign and allowing people to experience other cultures is actually backwards. If they are successful they will enable and accelerate the further dilution of dis

I do take exception with “no clear direction on where the company is headed”. You have to consider who is interviewing you and the size of the company you are interviewing at. I don’t expect a low level hiring manager inside of a fortune 50

Reminds me of the GE hit piece appearing on gefraud.com that tanked the stock and is now nowhere to be seen. Nor is the guy that authored it. I’m sure they made out like a bandit on their options.

I have wondered the same thing. Make it a piece of data that comes in from the environment or a secrets manager. It’s not bulletproof, but if done correctly seems like it makes the whole hashing scheme a little better.

Yeah, entry level should be a 512GB SSD and 16GB of RAM for any "premium" desktop in 2020. I'm sure some bean counter at Apple has calculated that arranging the options in this way makes more money for Apple per unit, but I c
