In my city, 10 years ago, a nice starter home was around 150k. Now you can’t buy a dump for less than 200k. And those same nice starter homes are 250k+. It’s not hard to imagine why. People flipping burgers can easily make 40k per year now

Totally agree. I go pretty far out of my way to make sure my mom gets plenty of time with her grandson, which she loves. It also burns my ass to hear my wife say “I couldn’t have imagined how much I would like being a mom”. Society and cult

This part of the IAM space (SSO and AuthN) is so crowded with products, both paid and open source. When you look at governance, certification, lifecycle management, approvals, etc. there is almost nothing by comparison. A couple not so grea

Even having a mildly sick child is devastating as a parent. It guts you. I can’t fathom what it would be like to lose a child. I’m sure it is a major factor in many other poor outcomes for the family and community.

My wife worked bedside at a nationally ranked childrens hospital for 5+ years. She left recently for private practice and loves it. More money, less stress, better management. The list goes on. Bedside nurses are often not paid very well, a

You know what I really want to see? We streamlined our firing process so we don't have to go through all these hiring shenanigans. When you have a ridiculous hiring process you can still make a bad hire. At most places I have worked ba

This is good advice for people with a lack of social abilities and no tact. However, it is possible to give very frank and difficult feedback but do it in a way that is professional and non-petty. A 30 minute download of every conceivable g

Sorry, sometimes breaking prod is your fault. As a senior engineer there is no excuse for forgetting a where clause on your SQL delete. And doubly no excuse for not having somebody else look at it.

This is why licensing your brand is such a double edged sword. GE has had nothing to do with engineering appliances for many years, yet you can still take the reputational hit when things like this come to light.
