I think the sentence is best read as "a wild animal could not reach the city without crossing a road that is not considered part of vancouver proper". Seems clear that that's the intended meaning

Not OP but a city block isn't an entire city. If you read their comment again without prejudice you may be able to understand what they meant, even if it does require a little imagination.

It's a serious trip, yes. More (by far) than most people would recommend someone do recreationally for their first time - it appears that high doses accompanied by a therapist are what has shown the most promise across various explorat

Is it really the case in the UK that working in a position for 2 years is a requirement before it becomes illegal to fire a person for going home sick once? What a sorry state of affairs.

I can only speak for myself but given the choice I would never read an ebook on a digital screen over an e-ink screen. The difference to me is night and day. I have an older paperwhite and the backlight is truly wonderful, I imagine a newer

If you substitute those quoted words into the sentence I was responding to my meaning becomes less dramatic: > The driver took over way before the car entered the crosswalk section. + > "Entered the crosswalk section" is a r

I think it's the devil in the details here. "Was aborted by the driver" is the key thing, nobody is arguing this error was so bad it could have killed civilians even if the driver was responsible.

"Entered the crosswalk section" is a rather euphemistic way of describing "drove directly through where the people were going to be"

I see what you mean, but the first appears to be a PHP bug (unless I am misreading?). The second, appears to be a tool for parsing a json blob which has been escaped and encoded as a simple string inside another json blob. That's certa

I think you hand wave away the responsibility born by the Governments who regulate, control, and subsidise the arms trade. Of course it is the fault of the user of the weapons as well - but UK and USA (to just name a couple more egregious e

In my experience browsing HN almost daily, over the last year it has become something of an echo chamber for "anti woke" lines of thinking. I've seen little to no healthy discussion on the topic - by which I mean productive d

Your argument is somewhat tangential - are you arguing women are defined by their ability to give birth? Seems fairly obvious that doesn't hold up even when we aren't talking about trans people

It's possible to be against the idea of trans women competing in female competitive sports without intentionally misgendering all trans athletes/humans.
