Same experience here, although I wouldn't laud flash's performance on Windows either. Silverlight runs better than flash most of the time, and Silverlight is pretty terrible.

I've lost count of the number of times Zombies came up in our Philosophy of Mind classes. The classic question was always "if consciousness can be entirely reduced to physical phenomena, then isn't the only difference between a zombie and a

I'm not familiar with the arguments for and against a salary-cap in baseball, but in the NHL (my primary sport) it has done a great job of making the teams relatively even. There's no equivalent to the Pittsburgh Pirates in the NHL - the

I agree with this, thank you. Respectfully disagree with others. If we didn't fight it, we'd have the same cultural distinctions as to what is and is not acceptable.

True, but even when you have a disease, you start by treating the symptoms to ease the discomfort. I can only imagine how uncomfortable women at these conferences (what few there are) must be.

As opposed to the blatantly sexist, misogynistic viewpoint represented by the other pictures? Yes, absolutely and unequivocally. I do see your point, and the tech community could learn a little about marketing themselves, but it doesn't exc

Amazing how much thought goes into this now, when many of the most iconic brands are last names (Smuckers, Heinz, Disney) or names that were not chosen for ANY branding reason (Google). It seems that a lot of this article really applies bes

For shame, for shame - forget where it's held, this kind of action reflects on the industry as a whole. Couldn't agree with this article more. The lack of female talent in this industry is a real shame, and excludes a perspective that could

Gotta agree. I prefer Vista to XP. Maybe I'm in the minority, but since the latest service pack, it seems rock solid. Of course, I also know how to remove malware or avoid it in the first place, and how to actually uninstall programs/clean

Coming from the marketing world, this is all too true. Marketers think that everyone cares as much about fads as they do, so they think that when they spew about them everyone knows what the hell they mean.

What a shame - the 6 year old seems to have an understanding of the difference between a right action and a right law, which is amazing in a child of his age - "it seems the law is what is wrong, not me." This is such a contrast to the idio

Well I think calling it the "MyTouch 3G with Google" is the best T-Mobile can do. I bet most of the people who are shopping for a phone don't even know what android is. They know there is iphone, blackberry, (maybe) palm, WinMo, and now the

Also interested in hearing people's thoughts on this, as a "demand side" guy who asks programmers to do stuff. My advice, FWIW, is that talking to and really trying to understand the problems faced by the engineers/developers working for yo
