He references, links and quotes that post: "Benchmark Capital VC Bill Gurley reminds us how good this trick is in an excellent post..." (The original article is definitely better than the TC summary.)

Wait, so the feed got its data from the NYTimes' own API, but they had to ask Twitter to shut it down on their end?

I completely agree. I wrote and deployed a project to Djangy on Saturday, in large part to try out my beta account. It was a simple app, but deploying to Djangy's cloud was trivial. (I think I spent more time figuring out GoDaddy's domain

MySQL does this too. I once found a bunch of Facebook User IDs that were all 2147483647 after someone missed the memo that Facebook was transitioning to BigInts.

Looks very promising, it'll be a good companion to the iPhone PlainText app. Two suggestions: (1) Word-wrap. (2) Let me pick a dark-on-light color scheme.

It's also important to consider if TC readers are your target audience. I've seen big pageview spikes from TC and other widely- (or poorly-) targeted press coverage that didn't convert very well, whereas coverage in much smaller but better

I think there's also a usability issue with this control. I would imagine a common use case is "Show me all the items at Store X, since that's convenient for me to drop by." Unfortunately, instead of selecting Store X, I have to deselect al

It's interesting that Red/Green and Blue/Yellow colorblindness correlate to the opposite color pairs that Jason points out. Does anyone know why this is? Are these types of colorblindness related to a deficiency in the filters (#s 1 and 2)

The purpose of captcha isn't to keep the bad guys out, it is to make sure that a person, rather than a program, is logging in. I'm not sure this new social captcha is better than traditional captcha at that, but if it is equal but easie

My BofA PIN is 6 digits, so you'd need to hash a million values. Still a pretty small rainbow table, I guess.

I got that as well. I'm certain my email isn't in the dump (downloaded the torrent to double- and triple-check). I thought is was strange they used a URL shortener with an uncommon TLD (.kr) to point to the FAQ lifehacker. Seems you'd want

I lived in middle-of-nowhere Texas for several years, and I think the only time I ever locked the door to my home was when I left for two weeks at Christmas. If my car didn't automatically lock itself after you get out, I would have left it

I'm not surprised -- I used to read all of Hannibal's reviews -- but it is innovation on the chip maker's part. Apple and HP are doing little more than plugging it into a socket.
