OK, so if I'm a blogger making a few hundred dollars a month from adsense on my blog, I'm actually subject to every single jurisdiction on the planet unless I actively (and completely!!!) block access from there?

No because torrenting is anti-capitalism and that's not tolerated culturally (Communist behaviour). However I doubt they'll be blocking WhatsApp and iMessage any time soon, or making people upload their ID to watch "adult con

Definition of 'Revenue in the UK' is a bit debatable though isn't it? I sell a advertising package from my US HQ based self serve advertising portal to a British company who use the service to advertise to customers in the UK

It's really interesting that the big objection is really about sharing the resultant video (widely). I actually feel the same, I don't really mind if I'm at the gym and in the back of a video someone's taking of themselv

I think it /can/ also be to 'multiply a number by 12'. For example lets say I'm a supermarket, who gets their order data out of a 20 year old IT system and as a result I've got a orders table which has a id, us

Much faster to do it in the database than in the client, especially in a normal situation where the postgres server is on a different machine that's possibly not even in the same building as the app server or where it allows you to u

Passports cost money yes, but introducing a Brit card won't?

How do you think HMRC know to send you a card? If they're giving them out like smarties to foreigners then they could simply... Not (a British person gets one as a function of having a birth certificate)

RTW already requires ID plus NI, but OK what about if we just said 'free passports' and then said passport or driving licence plus NI is needed to get a job here. If you have a foreign passport and no UK driving licence then yes y

If they arrived here legally won't they have a passport? Or national photo ID at the very least? If they are driving for Uber or deliveroo then they'll have a driver's license too? If they don't have either (or a UK birt

In order to drive a motorcycle or car you need a driving license which has photo ID? Ok maybe you deliver by push bike.. but if you arrived here legally you will have a passport? If you didn't you ergo don't have the right to work

Ok then 'Government issued [photo] ID' so what if it's not a 'national ID'? They have all the data they need to tackle this. You can't get a NI number without proving who you are, if the government don't t

I do selfie to prove I match my driver's license all the time (needed for app based banks, and so on)? The government absolutely knows where I work, are you joking? That's what NI numbers are for. You seriously think there isn

Pi5 with 4GB of ram is like £45 and runs fine for me on a standard super cheap 5v@3A charger. I think it's gone up probably less than inflation. I get where you're coming from though.

I agree. This is a genuinely good desktop for 'normal' tasks, sure you're not going to be running local LLMs or handling big 3D files but 4 decent arm cores, 16GB of RAM and a NVMe drive is more than enough for most.

IME very very few people tune the underlying host. Orgs like uber, google or whatever do but outside of that few people know what they're really doing/cares that much. Easier to "increase EC2 size" or whatever.

Not sure I totally agree. You can still have say two unrelated people sharing a room (x2). So for example a 1 bed flat with 2 people in the living room and 2 people in the bedroom; or a Studio flat with all 4 people in one room. I see where

You can patch it out but you then need to do your own builds for each version and keep on top of the patch. You can no longer just 'update' and you won't be able to patch the compiled version.
