Calls plugin has been restricted to only DMs (so no group calls and so on too)

Seems like they've gone past even their own '1000' users. In v11 it's a cap of 250 users! They're also rapidly removing features for team too. - User limits were lowered to final threshold of 250 for Mattermost Team

It also looks like that specific fork hasn't been touched since may 2024 ? https://framagit.org/framasoft/framateam/mostlymatter -- so realistically they may need to maintain their own fork.

Yes, I mean they are not difficult to remove, but I think it would be fair to add the context that they're going to have to fork it. E.g open source is not a panacea either, they will likely also struggle with postgres being a bottlene

Do you mind me asking if you'll be self hosting mattermost? If so they're moving to a 1000 User hard limit for self hosted instances. https://forum.mattermost.com/t/solved-is-there-any-limitatio...

Yep, it's only recently they've even properly started cranking out 10nm themselves. Pretty embarrassing. I wonder what future we have if everyone is just sat ontop of TSMC, not great.

You can only practically do that optically e.g through OTDR. You can't TDR steel conductors exposed to the ocean 500KM away with a ohm meter and a Murray loop, to even have a chance you need to put low voltage on it and it's not e

It can be done without water it's just marginally more energy intensive. Traditional dry coolers are perfect for these temps.

If they averaged only 60KW per rack that would be about 1.7Million sqft of 'white floor space' or about 3-4 million sqft gross building size.

Make the user who requested the extra power pay for it (upfront then monthly cost)? That's what we do in the UK, then if you stop paying the monthly cost for the 'commit' you surrender it and someone else is allowed to use it

I've heard 5GW touted as the capacity (so like 120GWH per day if flat loaded at 100%). However that is clearly B.S as I've also heard 2GW and another much more sensible number Just to give perspective 5GW would power about 10 Mill

Will vercel/next come up with an official policy on pages roter/API routes, will they be supported long term? If I start a next project I still use pages/API routes, because of several really really bad experiences with the a

Not the same problem though is it? You can have a express backend and react-vite frontend both in typescript and in a mono repo.

Having front-end and backend in the same language and mono repo is such an outrageous productivity booster for me. Obviously the opposite may still be true if you've got big, separate frontend and backend teams but if you just want to

Do you know what, it uses to be OK in the early days with pages and not too much magic/abstraction. These days vite is far far nicer.

I don't think that negates the point I was making. Most don't, for example none of the providers on https://www.serversearcher.com/ seem to charge setup.

Yeah I think that's fair. I'm very pro containers though, that's a genuine step forward from deploy scrips or vm images.

Right now you can buy a licence which costs a nominal fee https://www.ofcom.org.uk/spectrum/frequencies/shared-access (£80 per year gets you 10Mhz in 2300, 3.8-4.2 GHZ, or 3.3 pair in 1800)

I have also found this happening. It's actually really funny because I think even I'm less inclined to run postgres myself these days, when I used to run literally hundreds of instances with not much more than PG_DUMP, cron and tw

The difference between a fairly expensive ($300) RDS instance + EC2 in the same region vs a $90 dedicated server with a NVME drive and postgres in a container is absolutely insane.
