Arrangements are definitely copyrightable, completely independently of the melodies used to build them.

Anything that uses 9 of the 12 tones in a Western standard equally tempered octave, for starters. So, if it changes key at any point it is very likely to find that it uses 9 tones or more. Anything written in a melodic minor scale will use

Yes, there are. And yes, it could sound different enough. If I invert the octaves of every alternate note it's going to be quite hard to pick out the melody as being the same, because I'd have disrupted all the scales and arpeggio

Well, what is information? Is it an abstract thing, or does it only exist in terms of the thing which is representing it? I don't have a clue, I just think it's a relevant question at this point.

Because the parameters demand the same type (and for the return value), but the supplied parameters are not the same type because the only way to get that is to pass in exactly the same instance of the closure. It's a fun little thing,

I've never understood the level of vitriol directed at systemd and Lennart. I can understand having technical disagreements, but the hate has been astonishing. And it's still going on.

Good luck using those in some tools which use the API differently though. Windows filenames are endless fun. What's the maximum length of the absolute path of a file? Why, that depends on which API you're using to access it!

The simple answer is that C++ templates can do more than Rust generics can, including some things that in Rust you'd use the macro system for, and probably some things that you'd have to translate by expanding out the template and

I tend to think that it's fine, because I remember what it used to be like... what we have now is the "easy" UI! And they do occasionally put some new stuff in that helps. Like the recent version which adds new commands to sp

This does not surprise me. Git's original purpose of managing versions of a tree of text files (i.e. the source code of the Linux kernel) pervasively influences it, and I wouldn't expect it to be any good for working with binary f

I do like that select statement which hits the first case that has its channel ready with a message. That's very nice. And having channels in your standard library is brilliant and everyone should do it. A shame about the shared memory

If you're on your company-provided system you probably don't have the ability to change any anti-virus settings. Corporate IT admin rarely trust us to not just turn it off because it's annoying.
