Just bought it. I think of it as a $3 automated boycott. I don’t like amp for various reasons (not the purpose of this reply) and I expect Google can calculate an AMP bounce rate — they tend to serve ads on the page anyway. This app allows

I originally got into mainframe tech through IBM's annual Master the Mainframe program [1] which got me limited access real mainframe on some college's campus and IBMs manuals. The old -- and likely not so bad -- advice if you&#

Oh wow. This is the first time I've heard of this being possible. Fascinating. I'm curious, how did re-copyrighting impact the legal status of (possibly hypothetical) works derived from _It's a Wonderful Life_ during its in t

I would contend that a Hallmark card has usefulness after being exchanged. I can’t hang an NFT in my house. And doing so with Hallmark cards has tangible benefits to my well being. (the joy of seeing a thoughtful card with personal meaning,

I reckon they would for the same reason people do those things even though bankruptcy exists. Not paying your debts has consequences, even if the _may_ be forgiven. Likewise lending for interest is still profitable, even if it carries risk.

The buy page is linked at the top [1] It's worth click through to -- depending on where you live another vendor might be considerably cheaper for you. I'm in the US and Adafruit worked out to be ~$10 cheaper than CrowdSupply for m

Check the Johns Hopkins link again (as an aside, JHU is the data source for the link whihch you've posted) Underneath that chart they break down data for many more than those 20 countries.

Is that true? That seems at odds with what the article says. > What’s more, until the death of Stalin, black and red caviar was very inexpensive and accessible. Actively farmed in the Caspian Sea, it was one of the country’s top exports.

It's the latter. COBOL development is nearly never greenfield, and many of the (mainframe) systems you'll have to work with behave differently than you'd expect if you're someone that learned about software after the 80&

Theres almost certainly a more direct route, but I learned most of these things (not really JCL) by learning HLASM from this resource: http://csc.columbusstate.edu/woolbright/WOOLBRIG.htm

Sure, I defo have opinions on git-flow. But with every build system I work with (which are: Jenkins, Concourse, Github Actions, and Gitlab CI) you can make any branch you want the branch-to-build-on.

Can you give me a real example? I work with build systems in my day-to-day, and I can't remember the last time I worked with something that didn't support dynamic branch names but did support git But my experience is obviously s

This change only affects newly created repos, how does it create tech debt? I suppose some tooling may need to be updated, but if your tools are to brittle to support a different branch name.. sheesh I would posit to your quotee that they

Has Github stated a reason? I read the announcement from Oct. 1 [1] and it doesn't have any explanation outside of a link to a Software Freedom Conservancy [2] (the folks now maintaining Git) A lot of people here are assuming virtue si

The fat percentage criticism strikes me as a bit odd. At least where I am (USA) ground meat is categorized by its fat percentage and 20% fat is the standard I usually see in the supermarket. I guess what I'm saying is: 20% is indeed a

I've seen a handful of people make the point on permanency, but it doesn't sit right with me. Since theres no central authority enforcing a cancel, how can it be permanent? How many times has Kanye West been "cancelled"?

Since cancels arise out of conversation and theres no central organizer I don't see how a cancel _could_ have a list of demands. At the same time, I'm sure the individuals who are opting to not support could conceivably be swayed
