Agree with Solost, go get some user feedback - walk up to a random person, show them the app, and ask them for feedback on the design. If it is as hard and unappealing as you say, the person will say that, and they can hear it from a direct

Great post - the SEO and traffic benefits alone can be huge, although there is a large time commitment involved. The more you put in, the more you'll get out. I've just registered on one of the sites, up until now I've been just emailing pe

My parents own a vacation home in Fort Myers, FL and went down there from Canada one day to a foreclosure notice. They paid cash for the house, and had just fully furnished it the month before. They JUST caught it before the inside was gutt

Max, It seems like a cool idea that I could certainly see implementing it on one of my sites. I'm trying to push visitors into some complimentary services/products, so I could certainly see giving them a % off by looking at promo page for t

Don't try to sneak in - if you really don't have the money, find the organizer and privately explain the situation, explain why you want to be there, and ask if there is anything you can volunteer for to help. If you try to scam them you'll

Nope, I'm pretty committed with Freshbooks at this point. Here are some of the features I'd love though: 1) Ability to upload files to my invoices 2) Ability to send as a PDF 3) Ability to use my customers address data in ways that lets me

Get a hold of Dragson Den... the Canadian versions (CBC) is the best in my opinion (I'm biased) but the UK (BBC) version is solid as well. It blows shark tank out of the water, much more business stuff then sappy stories. It also features K

It doesn't "suck" at all, but I wish Freshbooks did a whole lot more. I've sent in at least 5 feature requests that seem relatively simple, but are dismissed (as far as I know). I'm happy with the service and pay the $30 bucks without cring

Back in school I pumped about 10k into a venture that hasn't panned out. Was incredibly stressful, and disappointing, but it helped me learn. Hopefully will push that forward and build upon it if I tried something like that again - for now

My first thought when looking at your graph was "why lower price to 33% for the same growth rate". Glad to see you were on the same track. Hike it to $1.99 and double your income.

I'll admit, I bit on your title. I've got to say that in 3 years of facebook, I've never seen anyone change their actual location unless they were full out moving somewhere - so I don't really see a need for this at all (unless it is target

First impressions... being honest (Please don't it take personal) - The template looks "OK"... but not great at all - The yellow for votes looks brutal to me - I like how it shows who voted for a startup - I'd drop the breadcrumb on the s

Martin, if you do end up launching for Toronto and want some launch stuff I'd be more than happy to throw a bunch in. I've got a pretty good database of stuff to do in the area already written down from planning events/outings

Abel, Yeah seasons tickets are a very good deal. Keep in mind that in alot of good markets (I'm used to hockey in Toronto) that seasons tickets are given in advance to scalpers, who sell them for above face value!

This was the first startup I ever "signed up" for back in 2004 (before I even knew what a startup was). Amazing to see how much it grew in those 7 years. Congrats to everyone involved!!!!

I think that it isn't necessarily that Canada is unfriendly, but it's more that Canada isn't as easy to get over the certain bump (as others mention, that bump is funding). If you're boot strapping a startup then Toronto seems to be perfect
