Still doesn't solve the core problem with the Android emulator - performance. Android needs a "simulator", not an emulator running the entire stack. iOS handles this wonderfully.

How is that better than email? If you want people to check it at their own pace (async), then use an async method. Slack expects everyone to check it constantly. At least in my experience :(

There are just so few instances where synchronous group communication (like Slack) makes sense in a workplace. If you need to talk to a large group of people about a project, it'll be more efficient to (gasp) have a meeting. Recording&

Looks really good, props. I have a few friends looking to learn React and this looks to be a good place to start.

I live in DC and experience exactly 0 of any of that. Your imagination of a "city" seems to be based entirely on the Mission district of SF. I would suggest travel.

Ah, Objective-C, the language that seems designed as if on purpose to confuse and confound. I'm glad it's on the way into the garbage bin.

Houses near metros should be more expensive. It's higher quality living. That's the point. I fail to see a problem with that. But it would also make commutes easier for everyone, rich and poor, just by building it. Bus routes, e

I think email being slower is kind of a benefit. The synchronous nature of slack just isn't really needed 99% of the time, at least at my job. Chat is inherently a bad tool to use for planning a project across multiple days/groups

It amazes me how popular Slack is. Terrible performance, constant interruptions, horrible threads. Here's an exercise. You and your coworker discussed plans for a project in a large channel 3 weeks ago. You need to get all that informa

In the end, Nashville will suffer. More and more young people don't want to be handcuffed to cars for 3+ hours a day. Good luck with your highways.

It's pretty difficult to integrate any huge JS library without looking at the online documentation at the same time. You don't know what methods exists or what params are allowed. TypeScript solves this. Any reasonably proficient

Nice to see the move to TypeScript. Any reasonably-sized library written in just JS gets hairy very quickly. Great library as well!

What a compelling argument. Union membership is the lowest ever, and so is wage growth. Too much kool-aid, I think.

If I have to connect a couple classes in separate files with a few objects/stuff inside of them, I'd bet good money that a statically typed language will provide a faster coding experience. Especially if you have leveraging third

I've heard the "mentally model" argument a few times, and tbh I don't quite understand it. You have to model the object regardless, either with types or tons of extra checks to make sure that object has what you need. I&

Not sure I've ever heard anyone say static typing removes the need for testing. Types are self-documenting. Onboarding new devs in a large static codebase will be 10x easier than a dynamic one. Coding is actually faster in statically

A few libraries have tried to build declarative UIs for iOS, with varying degrees of success. This is what I love RN so much - I can build UI in 20% of the time and effort.
