I don't think 99% of Hacker News is in favor of requiring covid vaccination in order to perform everyday activities. It probably a double-digit percentage, but there's plenty of debate. I for one am generally speaking against both

Wonder if we’ll have bailouts for the banks or homeowners if interest rates go up. I’m not confident the answer is no.

Also, as a Norwegian, risks related to refinancing in the case of a falling interest rate don't exist. Mortgages are floating-rate by default. If you enter a fixed interest rate contract, you are on the hook for the entire interest dif

I read somewhere that the inverters in most newly-produced Teslas are capable of doing this already, from a hardware perspective. Might have been one of Munroe’s teardowns. No official word on why it isn’t supported yet.

It depends. A friend of mine has been working for Microsoft in Ireland for a few years, and immigration to the US (green card track, two years if employed, I think) for him was practically a formality.

Pumped hydroelectric storage is an obvious choice for the countries that have the geography, in effect meaning that most of the infrastructure for doing it is already in place. Hydroelectric reservoirs allow storing energy more or less inde

I agree that there's merit to some of your points. But at the same time, some of this borders on the tautological when it comes to the challenges of our time. On a personal level, I find this story to be more of a funny (tragic?) anecd

"Kills only 0.2%" (as long as healthcare is available) is a killer feature, so to speak. It hits right where it's bad enough to cause serious damage, while being subtle enough that you need some analytical thinking to underst

Calling someone a "whiny bitch" is a personal attack that's completely unrelated to the discission. If you have to do that, can you do it in a different forum please?

Isn't distributed collusion just collusion by another name? I keep hearing the argument that you can't trick the law by technological means. This seems to be an attempt at doing that.

This is a very uncharitable response. GP wants a legitimate discussion that doesn't have an obvious/well-known/established answer at this point.
