This is exactly the point. In the UK too, they have a plethora of different companies, but you can buy any ticket anyway.

Uhm, perhaps HN is not for you? HN is about the community of hackers, not hacking in itself. Anything you chat about at lunchtime with colleagues is on-topic. Reddit is different, there's a lot more about memes and fun, usually. Th

Reading Borges as a teen is marvelous. I tried rereading it last year and liked it, but wasn't mind blown in the same way.

The question is incredibly vague to me. All books that you find interesting or that you simply have fun reading are worth investing your time in. So I could mention wonderful classics of literature. It sounds like you want "insightfu

Reminds me of being called out of the classroom for a meeting with the head teacher when I was 12. I panicked immediately, because "go to the head teacher" was usually just to be told off.* Then my teacher specified "it'

GEB is art, in the sense that it's really literary . In this sense an "explainer" cannot really capture what it is about and why it's interesting. Reading a summary of the story of Hamlet, no matter how "in-depth&q

Reminds me of those models which are so sophisticated you can fool them into thinking a cup is an iPad by putting a post-it that says I-PAD on it. I'm not sure if this was real or a joke though, can anybody find it?

Wikipedia has a nice and amusing summary: > The Thai state has failed at promoting utility cycling as a mode of transport.[33] Officials regard bicycles as toys, and cycling as a leisure activity, not as a means of transport that could h

I just came back from bangkok and was impressed by how well people drive compared to other large cities in developing countries I've been to. To be fair Thailand is much more developed than I thought before going.

I disagree with the first part, I remember home appliances made in Asia in the 90s that came with completely ridiculous manuals, possibly translated with a dictionary and little else. Machine translation can really be good if used properly.
