Journaling is a good way to accumulate training data for the AI to understand the behavior of the device owner. I suppose that is the purpose.

I hope journaling can help Siri/iOS be much smarter. For instance, it should know the podcast app I am using and when I put in my AirPods and press/say Play, just play the last podcast I had open - not the music app which I never

I dream of the unlikely day this lands in Canada. Banking is a highly legislated oligopily here in Canada. They will lobby long and strong to prevent Apple from entering the banking sector.

I used to think this way but over the years I came to realize that iPhone progress comes at a price and the benefits greatly outweigh the cost. Notably: - iPhones improve over time (Face ID was somewhat slow on 10 but is really fast on 12)

Why do companies speak as if there is ONE AI. Seems to me we can have different models, different personalities. Microsoft's Sydney can be an agressive AI, OpenAI's ChatGPT a smart AI, and Google's Bard a broken and late to t

I've been so disapointed with Siri. First, the latency is just plain aweful. Second, I tried a number of times to ask it not to interrupt me with notifications but alas, it failed to understand. I had to find the setting and toggle it

15 years ago I was at the same place you are. Believe it or not, I built an entire web-like UI using Tcl/Tk! But then I hit limits and started re-implementing the wheel. So I bit the bullet and learned all those layers of web developme

I like the sports analogy to explain a 10x programmer. A 10x programmer is the product of talent, discipline and environment. Same as a professional athlete. The environment is what differs. In professional sports, the athlete has a team su

I think you're on to something very practical here. Chat GPT allows for conversation that is pretty remarquable today. It hasn't learned the way us humans have - so what? I think a few more iterations may lead to something very, v

Apple is extending the data privacy/security you have on your phone for images, videos, files (content) to the cloud. Bluring the lines between physical device and the cloud. This makes perfect business sense - people will want to buy

Now, if you can explain to the AI why it is wrong, and if it could learn from that, it would be wild and even more human-like!

I like that fact the ChatGPT sometimes gives wrong answers. So do humans. Makes it human-like.

PMs are essenial for B2C. You need to abstract a huge mass of end-users into discrete pain points and offer solutions. PMs are not essential for B2B. An engineer can talk directly to the customer. Remember back when devs were called program

The CEO was doing it wrong. They should have empowered you to talk with the customer, identify the pain point and a build a solution. You were right to leave.

I wish front-end developers would use the right tool for the right situation. Not everything is a nail! Forms are a great example. Browsers and back-end languages have supported those very well for a long time without the use of JavaScript.

It ain't different than for user interfaces. Its all about managing expectations based on existing usage and behavior. Migration paths to new API endpoints or changes in behavior are possible but require hand holding in both cases.

I don't mind that the show is not so faithful. What I call out is that it isn't believable. Character building is shallow and predicatble. Everything looks staged. Nothing is shocking and everything is blah. They failed to leave a

My son, 14, uses a Chrombook instead. I can compare both. Honestly, he hates it. Limited yet still expensive. He would much rather have a Windows or Mac laptop instead. The school prefers Chrombooks over Windows - easier to manage.

I live in Montreal. One thing that is remarkable here is that even with 2M people, there are no ghettoes. Rich neighborhoods are generally mixed in with poorer ones. It's a great city to live in and to raise a family.
