This looks super cool, can't wait to try it. Does anyone know why the project is called 'A Logo-like DSL for Godot', it doesn't really mention Godot much except for it being a (runtime?) dependency?

This is cool, and it reminds me of POV-Ray. I wonder if it would be easy to map Blockly syntax to POV-Ray source code.

This is fantastic. I would highly recommend DragonRuby if you like Ruby as a language and would like to dip your toes into 2D game development. The community is very welcoming too.

I agree this is a good attitude and start off point for parents-to-be but I have to agree with other commenters that it is impractical and goes out the window pretty quickly unless you have nerves of steel :). Imagine for example being on a

I do see the appeal now, just not when it was announced in 2010 (I think a lot of people didn't at the time).

This is cool but I think technically minded people vastly overestimate how many people would use it even if they knew about it . It's just another thing to remember. I have an iPhone 8 and the 3D Touch version of it is clever but it d

I don't really get the appeal of folding screens, but then I didn't get the appeal of iPads when it was announced. One thing I would love is an iPhone / iPad that docks and dual boots into macOS powering a monitor- surely tha

> If it could run Xcode natively it would be so much better That made me think, Apple must have some internal prototype of Xcode for iPad? Creating iOS apps on iPad could be a killer 'Pro' app, convincing people to choose a Pro

This is a great read. I absolutely love the iPad, and it's one of the few devices I still find magical everytime I pick it up. I have an older iPad Pro 10.5" with a Smart Folio keyboard and I wonder if his setup is a big step up i

One thing that definitely resonates with me is his mention of sauces when he explains the differences between star ratings. Quite often when I visit a great restaurant I find its a sauce that lifts a dish from the good to memorable. I alway

A tangential question: for someone who has tried to listen to Jazz and Classical music but always found it sort of.. pretentious(?) would you have any advice or recommendations? I find myself less interested in music these days, although I&

If UML is useful at all, it is maybe in enterprise software / modelling business processes and even then I had hard time justifying it, so I can completely understand your reaction when it comes to real-time/embedded software.

Exactly this. I bought a mechanical keyboard and the ergonomics are so atrocious I had pain in wrists and shoulders after a single day of use, and had to go back to a cheap Dell keyboard that came with a refurbished PC I bought years ago.

How do you find an interesting career to pursue outside of the tech industry? I have no standout passion or interest, like many in this thread I am tired of the industry in general and the job itself. I am considering doing a part-time hort

I wanted to remove the second paragraph because it sounded unnecessarily harsh but I must be too late- I really enjoy his essays and I have taken a lot of advice from them.

PG's best writings are the ones where he writes about what he knows. He obviously knows a lot about ideas, how to execute on them, raising money, disputes that come with it. This is a very good example. It's when he writes about t

Tangential question, does anyone have any tips for someone who has lost all interest in video games? I used to like them as a teenager and whenever I pick up a game now (I'm in my early 40's) I am just completely bored. Part of it

Hi Miktor, I'm really sorry to hear about your situation! I'm in Northern Ireland too and I'm lucky to be employed (for now) and WFH. All I can do is ask around for you if you drop me an e-mail! Cheers, Martijn

I'm sure RAID was much more usable than some of the ITIL-inspired monstrosities some of us have to deal with.

Wow, thanks for the insight! I've really only ever used Godot to play around with so I haven't hit any performance issues. Would your XNA based engine work with MonoGame and/or FNA?

Does anyone know the state of C# support and documentation? I played around with Godot in the early days of C# support, and I found I had to translate from its documented API calls in GDScript which was quite cumbersome.

These are all valid points and it shows my lack of understanding (same with the other comments), even though I use C# on a semi-regular basis I have a lot to learn! I don't envy any newcomers to the language though, there is so much to

This is neat, but also super confusing. Is the ability to build class hierarchies not the ultimate reason to use C#, an Object-Oriented language? Which one of the two is idiomatic? Great, now we have code littered with methods that take ob

Are you sure you are talking about the Netherlands? Heating pipes routed outside walls I have seen in the UK, but never in the Netherlands. No soundproofing would NEVER pass building regulations in the Netherlands.

Completely agree with you. I am a Dutch citizen and have been living in the UK for over a decade; I would say the build quality of housing in the Netherlands is far better (if I had to guess probably because of stricter regulations). This i
