Art is not putting 2 objects together. It's a conscious effort to understand and express the world around you. While Mozart's 6 year old compositions may have been entertaining, it was 20 years of musical development that allowed him to wri

Many artists steer clean of Amazon because it is trying to democratize art through crowdsourced development. Can you imagine what would have happened to Blade Runner if Ridley Scott had even less control on the final cut?

Yes, I agree. I was just commenting on there being other ways for artists to make a living, much like Coppola does not rely on his film income.

While I agree in part, the issue is that good art, really really good art, is a full-time job that can take years and years of practice. Much like writing good software. Saying art should be free is saying all software should be free - the

If movies disappeared (which I don't believe they will as the barrier to entry has lowered so much) I would probably just read books and go out more. Games are great and I fully support them but it's not a form of entertainment for everyone

I'm not sure. I enabled G+ to manage our business page, which made my account visible. The couple of people who found it added my personal account from knowing my email. I circled them mistakenly (a slip of the mouse is all that's needed) a

But they can see that you are not following them, right? I can see everyone who has me in their circles (following). So therefore I can see who has removed me, even if no notification is given.

It's not me I'm worried about but the expectations of the people I commit to. For example I've done a lot of humanitarian work and once you are seen working for 'free' it's hard to have that conversation about how your time is actually limi

Over-commit: I have to disagree with this completely - if things don't go well it leads to disappointment and being taken advantage of. How about 'be realistic' and 'be communicative'.

Burn-out often comes when you have lost control of your environment. I've been through stages where I've had to sit down, take myself by the shoulders and re-work everything. That means strategizing and talking with my co-workers about how

As far as I understand it, if you have a website with a non U.S. domain name and not using a U.S. or U.S.-treaty-based payment system, there is no way to block access to rip-off items (material or digital) to be purchased in the U.S. For ma

Login not required, I have FB login and widgets disabled and I can read it fine. Some of the commenters point out a good question here: why has Facebook not joined in with the blackout in some form? Or is it just US only, like Craigslist.

Yes, you're right. I grew up in a very comfortable country where bureaucracy, transport, communications etc were not problematic. When I go home I'm no longer bothered by 'first world problems' and it's just made me a happier person.
