Well I've not looked into it myself yet, but apparently payments are a nightmare to implement in Japan. As they were in the US/Europe before Stripe/Braintree etc came along. My opinion of what Stripe brings to the table in ge

I'd advise anyone trying to learn by implementing ECC to be careful using this article as an introduction. It's written as if you can follow along, but there are some omissions (see the comments section). James D'Angelo has s

I was quite intrigued by this position, but if it's a repost of yours I'm probably as confused as you are about what is going on. Did you stop pursuing that venture? E.g. it's someone you worked/were going to work with?

Yeah it's an obvious bootstrapping/critical mass problem. It will be interesting watching to see if it does cross that line. If the usability is never there I can imagine it never quite taking off, and something slightly better&#x

That's true whilst it is treated as effectively a foreign currency. It may start to become irrelevant if bitcoin spreads and is generally held and used as a currency for earning income in, paying for labour/goods/services etc

I agree that because of the lack of controls it will be more volatile than other currencies, but I think volatility will at least reduce to something like gold once the majority is mined. It's volatility is partly due to the difficulty

There is an incentive for miners to not have confidence in bitcoin damaged. It's a bit of an interesting Nash equilibrium kind of game. In general, I think these things will balance out assuming rational actors. Yes there could be a cr

The short-term market price doesn't have a lot to do with it's long-term viability. Liquidity is relatively tiny hence shocking volatility. Anyone's bitcoins only represent a loss on a particular day if they actually choose t

It's not that far off. It is the busiest day of the year for them and the company president or CEO, (not sure which) chips in to make the food. However, whilst it does happen, I've seen KFCs without snaking lines.

I made a mistake by bringing Japanese into it - see my other comment. It's the language we speak at home so the one I use to talk to our son. The emphasis was supposed to be on baby-talk not foreign languages.

Obviously you can find tons of examples of words that are different in different languages. I probably confused the situation by bringing Japanese in. My son is Japanese so we talk in Japanese to a baby. I wasn't trying to compare lang

That sounds like a fair question but could equally be disingenuous. Is the rate of lack of use of bank accounts ever likely to be public knowledge? There's zero incentive on the banks' side to publicise that kind of information. I
