Sort of came here to say this. Interesting article, especially some of the design choices (such as http for the interface), but I am most curious as to why redis, or memcached, or some other k/v store was not good enough?

Seems to me this is the basic difference between a search and situational approach to evaluating game position. Backgammon is another great example, and one that I think has a higher branching factor than even Go does. Minmax only works whe

Basically tooling that takes you from a collection of images and service/replication controller definitions to a running stack. The main questions we ended up trying to answer were things like: how many nodes in the cluster? What machi

Yeah in many respects it is a general use framework, but there are gaps. Build tooling and automation to deploy images and update service and replication controller definitions is an area k8s really doesn't cover. There are a lot of di

Nice idea to generalize this. At my last job we did a lot of this automation against k8s on GCP using make and bash scripts calling gcloud and kubectl. A general use framework for promoting docker images to k8s services could be quite cool.

Data is the remaining elephant in the room. Containers have made code and config ephemeral and trivially replicable. But then you get to data, which represents billions of actually valuable magnetized bits of platter or flipped nand gates o

When we first started containerizing back end components a couple of years ago I spent a lot of time thinking about containers this way: how many pieces of my app should go into each container? After doing it for awhile and paying attention

This is really a great idea, imo. At my last gig we had four projects in GCP using kubernetes to deploy various clusters, and essentially all but one of those projects were for testing branches. Will be keeping an eye on this.
