I'm a Netflix fan, as a consumer and an engineer, and this blog post just reinforces my fanboi status. Amidst the descriptions of deployment tools and pipelines one thing stood out for me: the fact that AMI bake times are now a large f

Small improvements. Don't get me wrong: the things you listed are all nice and useful (+1 for keeping more than one stack trace). But I don't think anyone's definitions of "innovation" includes fixing exception repo

At the very least I'll agree that terseness is not always a virtue, and the time saved in keystrokes or formatting now may be easily lost later when someone tries to figure things out. That said, not all statements of this form are unr

All I can say is that on first glance it appeared to me to be a url shortener, and the thought that it, um, shortened landmarks... or something... never crossed my mind.

There's an edit box with placeholder text that says "Paste long url here," and a button next to it labeled "shorten." It seems pretty self-explanatory.

I think what we'd all actually be safer without is super smart academic types who think they can do a better job of system design than 100 years of shared experience. Traffic rules are among the most organic constraints we have develop

Both versions of an API can run behind haproxy as well, and requests can be switched between them based on many different criteria from OSI layer 4 on up. I guess I just don't see what was novel or interesting about the basic idea of s

What is the difference between this and writing your services to an API that runs behind something like haproxy that can be quickly configured to direct requests to whatever stack you like?

I don't know why we have to do so much navel-gazing on this topic. REST is just a loose set of guidelines for invoking operations on, and exchanging data with a remote server in a more or less stateless fashion. If json works, use it.
