You seem to care about this a lot more, and I'm honestly ignorant about these issues. But I'd just add that nearly every casual computer user is running some unwanted extension, toolbar, DNS hijacker, or worse. For whatever reason

This just completely ruins LastPass as an enterprise product, which seems to be a major revenue stream for them. (Unless LP enterprise allows admins the option to globally disable these insecure "features".)

Ok, I apparently have a lot of time on my hands right now. No, it's completely non-standard to place quotes around just one word from an original source. Also, context is everything.

Try both Tokyo and San Diego, plus consumer electronics. With well over 8000 employees, you will be calling 911 quite a lot. Perhaps notify the police of your complete insanity.

I completely agree with you, but the action was violent, or at least scary to the people on the bus. Plenty of marginalized people have managed to assert their dignity without intentionally scaring people. My main point, however, was simply

What assumption did I make about your politics? You wear your politics loudly enough so as to preclude any need for assumption. Why have you characterized me as a dangerous criminal? I just very simply do not suffer fools or borderline raci

Well the taxes don't have to do with anything. Nobody deserves to have their daily commute violently disrupted.

What in the hell are you talking about? Who have I attacked? None of the people in this thread are my "most important political allies". Did you people read "political debate and logical fallacies for dummies"? How does

Everyone seems to neglect the importance of good data collection techniques. This is the main distinction. Good and well-planned data requires nothing more than munging and basic averages for actionable results.

When you run a company, you just assume that your competitors know the pay structure. It's trivially easy information to discover (through interviews).

They'll already know that the expert is making more. If she deserves it and the company pay structure is fair, then no good employee will complain.

It also breeds malcontent and unethical behavior. My last employer gave me a very hefty raise while (unethically) telling everyone else that there was a pay freeze. Unfortunately, the payroll person was a gossip - the incident undermined my

To tell you the truth, my preference is strongly against cell phones. I don't even have a voice plan. The thing is that I simply respect other adults enough to let them decide whether it's ok to make a phone call. We're all a

White noise is a more effective sound barrier in small spaces like planes. This is why the captain's announcements must be broadcast in very high-pitched tones. Perhaps someone's need for a phone call is more important than my des

Yes, and traffic is annoying too. I nonetheless want to have motorized vehicles. I'd similarly like to use my cellphone and want for other adults to make that decision for themselves. If other people irritate me, then I'll go buy

This was an interesting and quaint sentiment in 1993. Now it's an attitude shared by overbearing grandmas and hipsters alike. The culture police need to move on. I don't like loud conversations, but it's a jet plane - not a d
