That's a good observation -- I wouldn't put it past them. I think the relevant psychological principle is "transfer of excitation." Apparently it's pretty obscure, but here's an article about it: http://encyclopedia.jrank.org/articles/pag

This is my go-to reference for web typography. It's simple enough that I can re-read the whole thing whenever I need to make things that aren't completely hideous. http://www.slideshare.net/jeff_croft/elegant-web-typography-...

If you haven't seen it, Dan Gilbert's TED talk -- "Why are we happy?" -- presents some good experimental results on this topic. http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/dan_gilbert_asks_why_are_w... The Wikipedia article (and even the choice of

Memorizing facts isn't innately valuable -- it's valuable because it makes critical thinking and problem solving easier. If you have a larger working memory (because you've memorized lots of things before), you'll be able to hold a larger s

I set up Spaces right when I got my Macbook, and it's hugely helpful. I assigned each of the major apps I use (Firefox, Terminal, Xcode, and Photoshop) to a different space. Combine Spaces with SizeUp [ http://www.irradiatedsoftware.com/si

This is great info, thanks for all these links. Angie's List is interesting -- very high quality, I'm sure, with that "Consumer Reports" style business model. But they also lose a lot of traffic going subscribers-only. No doubt they're roll

A good interface is intuitive, in the sense of both easily learnable and easily usable. I don't think you can really decouple the two. It sounds like you're mostly just displaying giant blocks of text, so I'd recommend this excellent slides
