I didn't mean to critique anybody, but just pointed out why a specific solution is not okay for me. Take it as an assessment of the situation to understand what we have and were we want to go. I might be ignorant about GCM. My understa

You can't use Signal without GCM or its siblings on other platforms. I don't have Google's Apps on my phone, so there is no GCM. Using GCM voids your contact privacy. So Signal right now is a no-go. I do care about whether Go

Due to cutting ties with Google and Facebook as much as possible I don't use Signal nor WhatsApp. What alternatives are there? I have been using Tox (qTox on Desktop and Antox on phone) and XMPP (Conversations on phone). I also tried R

I am also surprised a compiler includes this information into a binary. My expection is that the compiler creates an optimized machine code functionally equivalent to the source code, and nothing else.

I disagree with you. I consider email legacy technology because of its reliance upon DNS and static IP addresses. These two requirements make hosting email unnecessarily costly.

I don't want to take sides in this discussion but share an anecdote. Hey, maybe even someone knows a solution for this. I have a PC connected via on-board HDMI to a Denon AVR solely for the purpose of getting the audio to the amplifier

The problem here goes deeper. The initial complaint about someone else mentioning observations has grown out of the attitude "it can not be what must no be". It’s dangerous when people deny reality in favour of ideology.
