I thought it was basically impossible to get a decent architecture job without being exceptional/connected. That's what turned me off from the field.

I am in a fly-over and there are "upcoming" areas - pockets between the city and the suburbs, within 10 mins of downtown and other "prestigious office areas" that are almost sure to take off, but total ghetto now. It

Yea, it's expensive to tear down, usually almost double that even in cheap areas. It's part of the problem to the point where some of my friends discussed setting up a tear-down company rather than trying to mess with conventional

It's a good question. Going to let others answers. My tldr opinion is "Not really, but code duplication any time, but especially across repos can lead to hard-to-troubleshoot errors".

My problems with microservices irl: 1. Sharing models - the models can be moved out to another repository or a NuGet package, but guess what happens when you have to modify them? Inevitably, devs duplicate models. 2. Debugging across five d

I think that's very subjective. The USSR actually led the way on some innovation: * IRST on MIG-29 and helmet-targeting for infrared missiles * Titanium welding for high-speed submarines * Super-cavitating torpedoes * Stealth theory *

Not to get into too much detail, I worked for a place that did collections for for-profit colleges. It was depressing to hear some of the stories the students had. But the overall theme was exactly what you said: 1. Kid has no guidance
