I was a teenager in the mid 80’s, mostly with tapes, but with some vinyl. The first CD I heard (1987) was far superior sound quality. Vinyl has nice cover art, but that’s it. I’ll stick with CDs. Eventually those will become hip.

Depressing read. I don’t know if I should forward this to my 13 YO aspiring cellist. Of course she wants to major in math, and get a minor in cello performance, which is fine with me, though I’d rather her major in chemical engineering.

It’s not binary. Move somewhere with some jobs, maybe for lesser pay with better cost of living. Then other (higher paying) jobs may follow, which will raise the pay for everyone.

The jobs will follow when employers can’t hire anyone. If one wants to live in a urban dump to have a certain job, that’s fine, but don’t expect government intervention if they employer does not pay a living wage.

The “Collective” in a big block building? I assume this is a pun at the Borg, but maybe not.

A 26x33 mm die would yield 86E9 transistor. Pretty impressive.

Design by committee at it finest.

Probably better off painting it with zebra stripes like they did in WWI to throw off torpedo targeting.

I’m seeing more and more vehicles with this flat, black paint. They look like crap, as if someone took a spray can of primer over the entire vehicle.

Fully agree. The funny thing is that unions are now agreeing to two-tier wage structures, selling out the new hires to protect the seniors.

What kind of GMT watch do you have. I have a Glycine Airman, and I’m not aware of others than 24 Hour Watch Company (which I went through two of).

The article only mentions the clean executions (other than burning at the stake). There were plenty that were gruesome; essentially tortured to death.

Well, I do RF for a living, and have designed some mmWave transceivers. Time to grow a long beard and through on a robe. I just need a chair that levitates.

Gridlock is good. The last thing I want is control by one party.

Reminds me of the Southpark where Cartman is traversing San Francisco in a moon suite.

What’s good for classical, primarily string quartets?

That was a good movie. The corn syrup producer was especially creepy.

Is Poland outsourcing to India, or direct from America to India? The former reminds me of the guy who outsourced his own job to India?

Ditto. What's the advantage of flying 10 feet above the ground? Is it a true aircraft, or a surface effect vehicle?

WeWork can't crash and burn fast enough. Maybe it will be a trigger for the next crash, when people realize the other "tech" companies are not tech companies. Most "tech" companies are marketing.

Probably about as rare as Joe Public having a CCW permit in NYC. The registration will be very useful for confiscation.
