Yeah, I did worry. I told the flight crew people were at their own risk. I don't remember where I bought them from. Might have been B&H photo which sells their own branded ones in bags of 100 cheap. Maybe from aas.org. It's be

Story time. In the last total eclipse, I was commuting from Boston to San Francisco a bunch and planned my flight to coincide with the path of totality. I brought enough eclipse glasses for the entire flight. The flight attendants were kind

I have a fairly optimized backup to glacier strategy involving a couple of days of soak time in S3 before moving to glacier with lifecycle rules to avoid the 180 day min storage for transient files. Net I end up paying about $1.20 to $1.50

Obviously there’s going to have to be some holes so they can smell.

While I'm sure space truffles are going to be overpriced I am excited to see those little pigs doing EVAs in their little piggy space helmets.

If anyone finds this an interesting idea, you should try blackwater diving. It’s one of my favorite things to do it’s absolutely like being an outer space finding weird aliens. You don’t have to dive very deep and it’s super easy to pay att

A lot of the enshittification is a result of the drop in organic content from friends and needing to maintain engagement numbers. It’s a vicious cycle, possibly a death spiral.

I read through lsof source. It doesn’t provide paths for regular files. Even emailed the author to confirm.

If the FCC mandated Apple deploy an update to reduce phones catching fire then yes, I would use the term recall. For bugs that don’t fall into the safety or regulatory compliance category I would not.

Whoa, I had no idea. This is one of my favorite albums. I have the FLAC rip of the CD on my phone. Does anybody know how I could actually rip that zero track? iTunes didn’t do it.

I’ve been doing development on AIX recently and the lack of such a cache has proven a real pain necessitating implementing our own disk scan and cache. Not knowing the path to an open file or process in constant time is terrible. If anyone

The book about it is a great read although I think it could have used a lot more editing. Chapters approach the timeline from different angles and as a result it does feel like later chapters are going over the same material too many times.

When cool it absorbs water. When hot it desorbs water. So you would need to idle or throttle. So some sort of “turbo boost duty cycle” sort of thing.

The cost of setting up additional data centers in Europe and re-architecting your application with a different replication strategy is probably 10x-50x the fine. It would also take years and a sizable fraction of the engineering team to mak

Pretty useless video. The dev kits had both a Linux PC and a PS2 target board in the same chassis. These guys never got past the Linux login prompt. Now the PS3 dev kits were more interesting. I used a second gen one, a stainless steel box

OK maybe this is a dumb question but if I have a camera with a 600 f/4 lens and I put a 1.4x TC on it for a 840mm f/5.6 lens won't that be a very similar FOV? And I can use my existing camera? And I can take 1,000 photos alig

Part of his argument here is stock is funny money. I think that is less true at FAANG today. You start vesting in a quarter, vest monthly after that, and RSUs are treated as income unlike options. Yes stock may change a bit but it’s more li
