Xamarin just binds the native UI framework and makes some tweaks to adjust it to C# conventions, so you can use the same APIs that native developers use.

I'd be excited about Flutter if it wasn't using a language that I would only ever use to write Flutter apps and literally nothing else, ever.

I automatically read that headline as intended, didn't even smirk. I don't want to forget the absurdity of our world and its little dramas, so thanks for the reminder!

You reacted to the following phrase: > that their success in this society will rely on using and stepping on others who will now have less as a result, if not in their own community then in the international stage. by saying that if the

Almost wanted to downvote you for the pedantic tone, decided to comment instead. What you are saying is not at all self-evident or settled. It's true that business models that create value without being predatory are possible, and sure

Yeah really no need to study this. There's "anecdotal" and then there's "this happens to 80% of people and we have cute euphemisms for when you excuse yourself" and that to me is as good as the most rigorous of

Back in the day commuters and bench-sitters weren't somehow more "present" than they are now, they were just consuming other media. And I wouldn't venerate the books/newspapers of old and sneer at IG quite so much.

Can't upvote this enough. In my experience, if you have the capacity for the occasional obsessive voracious burst of knowledge acquisition, there's no limit to the amount of technology cycles you'll be able to surf, and you&#

We live in a hyper-polarized time and belong to an industry and community (SV) that is both responsible for a lot of that polarization, and is busy trying to remake the world and the experience of the world as it sees fit. We're hardly

Looking forward to hearing about this. On a similar note, why not collect errors from the backend and SPAs too... after all a stack trace is pretty much a stack trace wherever you are. I get that this isn't the market you're servi

Here's a scenario I'm dealing with that must be fairly common. A mobile app running against an Azure backend, where users can also access the app through a SPA on their desktop. I don't want my analytics data spread out over

I don't know any of that terminology or category theory in general, but I'd like to assure anyone who cares that you really don't have to to get the elegance and power of WPF. It was a steep learning curve sure, but totally w

Cross-platform capability is not the only possible motivation to use something like this. Personally, it interests me because I don't see WinForms/WPF/UWP as viable, so right now the web stack is the only capable high-level U

I'm dealing with slick and pretty consumer apps. Getting winforms to be pretty is not reasonable. With WPF, you can get the pretty, and then trying to get it to perform reasonably where no browser would break a sweat will drive you to

I use VSCode to work on medium-sized VueJS+TypeScript projects (maybe a grand total of 200 code files), and it regularly consumes around 800mb - VS territory. Perhaps it's very sensitive to how it's configured/what plugins ar
