I'd be excited about Flutter if it wasn't using a language that I would only ever use to write Flutter apps and literally nothing else, ever.

- slig 9y agoYes! TypeScript would be perfect.
- seenickcode 9y agoI can't believe how easy Dart is to learn, especially having a TypeScript background myself.
- m_fayer 9y agoI'm not worried about learning Dart. I'm worried about adding yet another tooling and OSS ecosystem to my collection, that's where the real cognitive burden is. I'll do it if I have to, but in mobile you really don't have to. You can choose from Java/Kotlin, Swift, .NET, and HTML+(Java/Type)Script - chances are you're already in one of these worlds, and if you're not then entering any one of them will pay much bigger dividends than Dart.
- seenickcode 9y agoYep good point.
- MarkMc 9y agoWell Dart can be compiled to Javascript. In fact I think that was why it was created, then a few Googlers said, "Maybe we can use this to build mobile apps too"
