I have, and it amazes me that everyone speaks so positively of it. I'm not going to argue it's a bad library, or it's not worth investing it, but it's not without its problems. And I certainly don't think it's applicable to all distributed

I would be extremely excited about a static type checker, and given how favorably Python is seen in this community, plenty of others would be here as well. So please do post when you have a finished product! I'm sure you've seen these alrea

I agree, but I think an important aspect is that ISS has a lot of political appeal to it as well. There's something nice about having all these countries working together and plugging into each others' modules: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki

At some point electromagnetism was a "low level" theory, but now you've taken advantage of all that basic research by typing that comment up in a computer and publishing it for the world to see. The practical application of this sort of stu

Maybe the list is for a public event, and they don't want people to call in or come to the office just to add their names. Maybe the list got too long and difficult to manage. Maybe the maintainer of the list wants to search for specific pe

That's along the lines of what most programmers do, and each defeat is chipping away at inefficiency. You're doing your part in the greatest productivity revolution in history :)

Learning to program with a language as academic as this would be like learning about the basics of electromagnetism by building a particle accelerator :)

Btw, Linda's name was "inspired" by Ada. Except instead of using a famous female mathematician (Ada Lovelace), he used a famous female pornstar (Linda Lovelace): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linda_Lovelace Edit: Reference: http://c2.com/

Unless the original high speed rail plan has been scrapped, it is far more sophisticated than "just" a link from the east coast to the west coast: http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/09/04/16/a-vision-for-high-sp...

I think you're seeing this project too much from the perspective of whether it will succeed/fail in the marketplace. That is not the point of research. This should be viewed as an exploratory search for new paradigms in multicore computing.

I made a project that did news recommendations a few years ago. One major problem I came across while developing it is that there's a trade-off between accuracy and bias. The more accurate recommended articles are to a user's taste, the mor
