You're right, it's broken in Chrome. Signup block looks completely different. Also, using IE Tab in Chrome, it goes berserk complaining (dozens of times) about the security certificate, not sure if that's a bug with IE Tab or their website.

There are indeed cultural issues, but deeper than that is the problem of trying to impose one economic policy (via one currency) on an area as diverse as Europe. We are generally quite good at rubbing along with our European neighbours, but

I'm guessing that the silent downvoters are reacting to the "wage flexibility by fiat" paragraph which might be construed as a political viewpoint rather than an economic one. The widely-accepted narrative at the moment is that the bankers

Apparently Latin is a very popular subject in schools. IF that popularity is genuine, it refutes the idea that children are always looking out for the easiest option, which bodes well for CS in schools because (if it's done correctly) it wi

This guy has always been one to pull facts out of his arse. As a mutual friend put it, "He seems to have found a way of skipping the evidence-gathering stage of enquiry and leaping straight to the conclusions." It's total BS but the chances

Thoughtful response :) Clearly, you're in the US? Because in GB, the situation doesn't even resemble what you describe. I've had near-misses with cars, but none of them deliberate, just careless, thoughtless, occasionally utterly incompeten

Unfortunately I've lost all faith in recruiters, both as a client and as a candidate. They lie too much and they rarely understand IT (which is why it's a shame OP got such a mixed reception here). As a "for instance", I went for an inter

Key to my application is I can write a good letter and CV/resumé, whereas most people can't. They also don't know how to research their industry: finding the right companies, working out who to address the letter to, how to followup a few m

Just recently, I took a couple of steps to enhance my job searching. First was to post my CV/resume to jobs like monster.com; the second was a very old skool writing-a-letter-on-goddamn-paper-and-mailing-it-out-to-would-be-employers. The fi

Lying is self defence. Lying is camouflage. I taught my kids to lie, just like parents always have. But I agree with you that the headline is melodramatic, incorrect and irrelevant to any meaningful discussion about Google or its services.

To counter a point that has been made several times here: it's not just corporations which operate a "conservative" IT policy: many SMEs do so as well. Innovations are great at home but at work, they confuse users, break things which have w

I was quite surprised to find that the NHS uses password-less logins for its "Flexible Worker Portal": https://erecruitment.nhsponline.nhs.uk/Portal/LoginForm.aspx So all you need is the DoB, email address and postcode of someone, and you
