Meta is in full panic last I heard. They have amassed a collection of pseudo experts there to collect their checks. Yet, Zuck wants to keep burning money on mediocrity. I’ve yet to see anything of value in terms products out of Meta.

It’s not political corruption but political theatre. SKorea is controlled by a few chaebols. They keep the gen pop “entertained” so they can do what they want behind the scene. The closest they got to the chaebol is when they sent the Samsu

I don’t think representation needs to be a thing for a personal list on a blog. Government? Absolutely. Corporate? maybe. That said, of course there have been many critical female contributions in the field. However, it’s also a numbers gam

I read Shannon’s paper every year and it gives me new insights every single time. It transcends computer science. And Claude was one of the coolest “nerds” I’ve met.

Bingo. US always has been about commerce and money. It wouldn’t shock me if Ross has at least a few million hidden in some “lost wallet” printed out in a vault some where. He was smart enough to know he would get caught one day.

It appears this basically locks out Google, Amazon and Meta. Why are we declaring OpenAI as the winner? This is like declaring Netscape the winner before the dust settled. Having the govt involved in this manner can’t be a good thing.

To be fair, they did have the lead as late as 2018. It’s just they treated it like it was their PhD thesis. Didn’t protect their IP at all and let all their talent leave.

It’s not even protectionism. US is the only country in the world to honor unwritten free market rules. Simply because people here believe in it. All we want is reciprocity. US is not protecting the Googles and Facebooks of the world. No one

That’s rich coming from Europe. You guys pillaged rest of the world for 700 years. Took all the gold from the Americas then proceeded enslave Africans for centuries. And normalized it. Play by the rules? What rules?

Nail in the head with reciprocity. I think the US honored its end of the bargain over the past four plus decades since China started manufacturing goods for US companies. China clearly benefited since they are now the second largest economy

Why do we need a good answer? Does US need to be a good guy on some made up rules? Post Soviet collapse, US could have just taken over a bunch of territories. We don’t alway need to be some faithful country when the rest of the world is alw

Not to be off topic but Apple needs to build a fully featured full frame digital camera with an iPhone slot. That would be game over for so many users.

Why doesn’t China simply open up for domestic competition? What are they afraid of? It’s a serious question. Are they that much afraid of their consumers switching to Western products? I frankly think it’s overblown. Chinese people will sim

I call BS on this. The data is biased first and foremost. There’s absolutely no way Waymo or any robotaxi can drive in NYC. In order for robotaxi to be viable it needs have near perfect safety error bands.
